As someone who can't do stereo, what makes it special? Does it do the traveling thing sound apparently does? (Born with one working ear so not just being lazy. Never known anything different. I listen to everything via radio-aid in 'mono' (L+R in one cable) but I understand from dad trying to teach me to listen to stereo that it's..... Magic or something. Doesn't seem like it would be much different if I can hear everything anyway.)

​@@Roadent1241basically the way that music is mixed is that it is all made up of different tracks for each instrument. These tracks can be panned to different areas of the stereo field so one instrument could be panned all the way to the far right and it wouldn't be heard in the left ear. With mono the only control you have is volume when mixing. A good example of this comes from the 2009 remaster of The Beatles albums where they have the instruments hard panned to different ears. If you turn off mono mode you can hear the instruments that were panned to the left and right (by swapping sides on over ear headphones). Hope this helps!

Kinda unrelated but i also rmember there being a silver variation of the 2005 Time Vortex that was used with this theme, and some other promotional themes, before they aired Rose. However i can't find it on KZbin and idk if it's a Mandela effect or not

I prefer the one they went with in Series 1 far more. The techno beats feel a bit disjointed in combination with the orchestra. The Derbyshire samples work far better imo

​@nathaann this is the only other version on KZbin that isn't in low quality and is presented in full length. It has been rebuilt from radio recordings, documentaries and other sources from the ground up.

Some of it was Project Who?, some of it was from the KZbin video of Chris Moyles visiting the TARDIS set in 2008, the rest was from A Legend Reborn

this is pure speculation but the orchestra sounds at least partially sampled/synthesized here, i wonder if this was an earlier demo that Murray Gold made and was used before the final version with the orchestra was recorded
