Peter Capaldi played the guitar for real every time he's onscreen with one. As a younger man, he was in a band in Scotland. Have you heard of Craig Ferguson, who hosted _The Late, Late Show_ before James Corden? He was in the band too.

@@chanceneck8072 To be honest, I never really watched it. I was very familiar with Ferguson from his early days as a comedian and occasional presenter on Scottish TV, while _The Late, Late Show_ will be more familiar to people outside Scotland. That familiarity is the main reason I bring it up, because I think the connection between Capaldi and Ferguson is interesting to an international audience _now,_ while it would only have been of a passing interest to Scots (and nobody else) had Ferguson never moved to the US.

Daleks like that get their power through the floor of cities And at the end of the the next episode we see Missy surrounded by daleks and she says that she has a "wonderful idea" in which we never find out what that idea was or what she did with the daleks or anything like that, and Missy is just a bad character who is not funny, she is not the Master and her existing breaks doctor who canon Overall these episodes were just boring And don't even get me started on the sonic sunglasses

This season opener has to be one of the best to watch and the best to watch the reactions as well. Missy doing her murders, that thing Colony Sarff and then Peter Capaldi's grand entrance playing guitar on a tank. Such a multi-talented man. So, may I take the opportunity to list his many, many accomplishments. For a start, he's an Oscar winner - wrote and directed 'Franz Kafka's It's a Wonderful Life' which won him the Best Live Action Short Academy Award in 1995 (it starred Richard E Grant - Dr Simeon aka The Great Intelligence). Peter C was in a punk band with Craig Ferguson called The Dreamboys when he was an undergraduate at The Glasgow School of Art (a really good art college). But he is, most of all, a kind and generous man. Check out on KZbin 'The Doctor to my son Thomas' how he made a video especially for a 9 year old autistic boy called Thomas who couldn't cope with the loss of his grandmother. The boy's parents posted it on KZbin because they wanted people to know just how brilliantly helpful it was for Thomas. He's the best.

11:40 - The Seasons of the 9th and 10th Doctor generally played out over 'real time' or near enough to it. While later seasons depict the Doctor over a much longer span of time. The 9th Doctor says that he's 900 years old. We later find out the 10th Doctor is 903 in Voyage of the Damned. The Doctor says he's 904 in The Day of the Doctor, which occurs after The Waters of Mars. Thus, all adventures with Rose, Martha, and Donna take place over no more than five years. That's pretty close to the five years that spanned the 9th and 10th Doctors' tenure on screen. The 10th Doctor regenerates aged 906, and the 11th declares himself 907 shortly afterwards so we can surmise *the 10th Doctor lived for about 7 years* He really could've done _so much more_ Steven Moffat, who was the show-runner for the 11th and 12th Doctor had a different approach, making the 11th Doctor 907 in Series 5, then 909 in Series 6, before his "death" aged 1103. In Series 7, he's aged about 1200 when last with Amy and Rory. Though throughout that time he drops in and out of their life over a 10 year period - *which meant the 11th Doctor lived for almost 300 years* before Trenzalore, and another 800+ years while on Trenzalore These are just two different approaches to writing the show and the character, but when you think about it does mean that the 9th and certainly 10th Doctor really didn't live for a very long time at all when compared to the 11th.
@aloysiuswhiteboat29345 жыл бұрын
LabradorIndependent That did always kind of rub me the wrong way. Moffat made it so that HIS Doctor was the Doctor for over half of the character's lifespan. The 11th Doctor was the Doctor for centuries longer than the First Doctor. It may not seem like it matters, but it smacked of Moffat's self-importance, which was in full swing at the time.
@LabradorIndependent5 жыл бұрын
@@aloysiuswhiteboat2934 Yeah I always thought it was a little odd. On the one hand, I feel like it means the 9th and 10th Doctor died way before their time. I can't say I'd noticed until it was struck against 11's extreme life span. That said, I do accept that with each new lead writer Doctor Who has always changed, either subtly or radically, and I don't really compare them on those changes because the show always changes. My own head-canon was that The Doctor lived for about 100 years per-regeneration, then dies of old age if not otherwise killed. The idea that a Timelord can live for 1000+ years before regeneration seems excessive.

Am I the only 1 who prefers Davros here against Capaldi than his appearance in Season 4 against Tennent? Also, I wish Missy had been traveling with The Doctor far more than she did!

This is pretty much the only appearance of Davros after Genesis Of the Daleks that I don't hate. They finally found a good story idea for the old ghoul.

Julian Bleach is honestly my favorite Davros. And Missy is my favorite Master alongside Roger Delgado. Returning villains did very well with Capaldi, not mentioning any names.

I don’t know if you picked-up on it but the scenes on Skaro had literally all the different types of Daleks there have ever been (including Classic episodes).

It’s always better to watch “The Doctor’s Meditation” and “Series 9 Prologue” right before this episode. They add so much.

Hi Shayla! You might want to get someone to moderate your comments for you. There are a few spoilers posted in them, and three or four trolls who are well known for posting on Who reaction threads ("JustSomeRandomGuy Online" being the most notorious.)

‘How’s your boyfriend? Still tremendously dead I presume?’ Sooooooo awful but hilarious 😭😂

Can we not spoil Shayla please? I'm just as excited as everyone else to see her reactions but its not fair to say "this thing is important later" or "you are going to cry over what happens in episode BLANK", or even "I can't wait till you get to episode 54 you'll love it". Even saying a guest star will be back later ruins the surprise. Anything from previous episodes or an explanation of something from classic Who is fine. Projecting about something yet to come isn't. We adore her reaction videos because they are so fresh and raw. Knowing something about an upcoming episode spoils the fun for everyone.

Ade Lucas So few people understand spoilers. Maybe you have to be into storytelling. "Don't worry, you haven't seen the last of ____ yet ;)" doesn't impress anyone. Oh, you've watched the show? We mostly all have. Just because the BBC spoils everything ahead of time doesn't mean we have to! Let's give Shayla shocks and surprises we didn't even get to truly experience!

There is a video floating around on YT with River's timeline from her point of view. Actually there are several. You shouldn't watch them yet, because they contain spoilers, but once you are at a certain episode you can look it up. I'd love to see your reaction to that video as well as a rewatch of the library story. :)

I know there are some people that don't like the fact the Doctor plays an electric guitar , but I'm not one of them. :) I honestly don't know why people think it's wrong, but it's their loss.
@shadowwhosm5 жыл бұрын
Agreed, like the Second Doctor played a Recorder and Seventh played the spoons so why can’t Twelve play the guitar?
@aloysiuswhiteboat29345 жыл бұрын
Generally I hear it's too Americanised. Sunglasses, guitar, tank... it just "isn't the Doctor" to some people.
@AmyWarriorPrincess5 жыл бұрын
@@aloysiuswhiteboat2934 Me personally, I love the sunglasses. Every Doctor has a quirk that makes him different. In my eyes, that guitar and sunglasses are his little quirk that makes him different. That's why I like it. :)

Love your face of realisation. Lol so cute. Sssssooooo cute. And who would have thought Peter to be a cool guy? Never judge book by cover right. But on the guitar... one cool cat.
