I alwasy get a slightly sniff-and-swallow a tear moment when they do that! I mean, what other TV show in the world could fill the Albert Hall with 5,544 people [maximum allowed, I just checked on Wiki!] just to hear music from the show? well, not just to hear - have you seen the "Dalek" sections? there's audience participation for you! I remember the very first eps of the prog, back in 1963 - DT is still my equal favourite Doctor [shared with Tom Baker]

look at the children swinging and the people clapping during song of freedom, doesn't that touch you? :')

When they started clapping at the end it gave me shiver up my spine. Isn't Doctor Who brilliant, there isn't many shows that give me such a sense of wonder

Granted, Journey's End does have serious problems, but if you combine the actions of piloting the Tardis and the brilliant CGI effects of the Tardis literally dragging Earth across the galaxy, this music screaming in the background leading to their eventual triumph, this makes it absolutely beautiful to watch. It's tear jerkingly beautiful.

agreed! Music has so much power; I wonder how the sequences would play with no music at all, or with different music and not that epic Murray Gold score.

@hunteromey you're not the only one! I've just got hold of the "backstage at the proms" (which I'll be posting as soon as i can break it down to YT-sized pieces) - it gave the crew shivers s well!

@milllybob not seen Lost - I don't watch TV, which is why it took me so long to find out that they were remaking Dr Who - I'm still working through DT! still, I'll have to look for Lost clips and check it out.

@dramaqueen5748 agreed - for emotive power, it's tops. it's playing as I'm writing this, and I'm choking up and blinking a bit more than usual. Music has much more power than words - words go to the mind, but music reaches right down into the guts and goes straight for the emotions. And when the audience starts clapping ....*sniff*

The original Doctors Theme didn't include that second section, which was introduced in series 4.

@franl155 - ps! for a "sense of wonder" the Doctor's speech to the audience in "the music of the spheres" sequence takes some beating - wonder how those words will take root in young minds, and what will happen because of them!

I agree with u I let my older 2 watch that bit and I told them to listen to the Dr and my son does it and he said the anger he has goes away. And same for my daughter too. I can't wait to let my other daughter listen to whe wise words from the dr

franl155 Not very likely reportedly Georgia Moffett has given up acting in favor of screen writing. But who knows Big Finish has had a tendency to pick up the pieces from the TV-show and turn them into great stories so who knows, the doctors daughter might return in an audio play.

+Erikjust They could always just say she regenerated. She is a time lord after all.
@Erikjust9 жыл бұрын
+Saul Dragneel true they could always do what they did with the ninth Doctor and have her regenerate off screen or maybe Big Finish could persuade Georgia Moffett to return to acting, they persuaded Tom Baker to return to Doctor Who after all. So who knows they might do it that with Georgia Moffett too, and speaking off the ninth Doctor since both david tennat and John Hurt are doing their version of the doctor for big finish. Maybe just maybe they can persuade Christopher Eccleton to return as the ninth.
