The device that the Doctor was working on before Grant ate the stone, was supposed to straighten temporal problems in New York. Those kind of problems are why he was unable to see Amy and Rory. Some people think that he was finally fixing those problems so he could see them again after losing River.

I remember meeting Capaldi on his second visit to Mexico... he was obsessed with the name "Doctor Misterio"! (the name of the show in the 70/80's), always calling himself like that. He's such an amazing man. It was a funny surprise when the name of this episode was announced. All my whovian friends here in Mexico couldn't stop laughing at the idea of Capaldi teasing Moffat until he included the name. This episode is so funny, I really like it.

Failwhale, did you notice when Nadol mentioned River Song's name, the music shifted to the theme music in Silence in the Libary? And Grant became a superhero at age 8, and was now 32. So, in effect, he became the guardian of earth for 24 years, while the Doctor was on a 24 year "breaK' to spend time with River. Now that the Doctor was back, Grant could hang up his cape and settle down.

They got the name "Doctor Mysterio" from that being the title of the show in some foreign languages. Apparently Peter Capaldi really liked the name when he heard about it and that partly inspired this episode.

I may very possibly just be VERY stupid, but I always felt, that I may have missed a joke here, in both the English and the German dub version of this: Where did Nardole want to go? What did he mean? Why did he correct the man? What was the joke here and why am I so stupid not getting it?... And if there's no joke, why is that line in there then?... Please be kind!

Nardole is wearing a duffel coat, as was young Amelia. It's common in Britain and usually has the hood and toggle fastenings down the front. It's often associated with "nerds" or "trainspotters", although it's basically just a practical, warm coat for the variable (to say the least) English weather. I'm guessing that for young children in particular, the toggles are easier to do up than buttons.

This special is... a bridge. It's notable to mention that the Doctor at the start is trying to fix the paradox that doesn't let him meet the Ponds in the 30s. He's trying to have another Christmas with them, he missed his Ponds (including River) that much.

I love this episode. When I first knew it was gonna be a Superhero episode I thought it would be cringe and I really dreaded it, but I saw it and I actually thought they did a great job. It's just a lot of fun. It's a feel good Christmas special.

I tend to prefer the 'nicking someone else's genre' Who episodes when they're quite openly played for laughs (like here, or in The Unicorn and the Wasp) rather than deadly serious (like, say, A Town Called Mercy). S'a decent little episode this one. Though Harmony Shoal may be the least memorable recurring villians in Who history - not bad as such but just incidental - they're not even close to being the main attraction in either of these two episodes.

Didn't the toothface guy from Thirteen's first episode come back for the season finale? I'm pretty sure I read that somewhere.

(Of course you’ve seen all of series 10) but I really like series 10. Lacks decent stories through half of it but the whole series just felt really bright, light and refreshing for some reason. Also having Bill for a single series when the past 2 companions had been on for way longer, I actually got to like her, it’s a shame we didn’t get some more back story or family. Would have been nice to have her along for at least 1 more series. She acted just like the other companions would, yet felt different with her personality and she could be quite bubbly which I liked.

Another episode I will always love simply because it's funny and RIVER 😭😭😭. We didn't even see her and it still kills me xd. I lost my mind when I thought they wouldn't say and then Nardole explained a little because then Doctor wasn't willing to. He may not be may favorite character ever, but, at least partly, he gets the Doctor, and he's willing to make up in what he lacks, besides caring. It's wonderful :').

Also if you want to watch more of the actor who played nardahl's work it's going to be super difficult to find however if you can find the mockumentary series "round planet" It's absolutely hilarious and somewhat educational. Provided that you know which parts to ignore because it's obviously just a joke
