It had been a long time. They're creepy as hell, but they do need to come back. They only made a cameo during the Matt Smith's place, but that was the latest they were seen. They should come back, but not sent to kill.

I always loved this episode, but it's odd that they make such a big deal about changing time here. I know it's a fixed point but considering how much they've changed both in the past and the future, you'd think these guys would be popping up more often
@ArcDragoon6 жыл бұрын
Actually the explanation for this is really easy. It isn't just a fixed point, it is a part of causality. Due to the fact that Rose and the Doctor went ONCE to see Rose's father before he died, and then circled back a second time to interfere with the first instance is what broke time. The Doctor may have traveled and changed time a lot, but he has never actually done anything where he wasn't always a part of events already. He has never gone back to interfere with his own timeline. Every time it seems like he travels back in time to interfere with his own timeline, it is actually a bootstrap paradox. Unlike this event, because Rose interfered with the second time around, she thereby broke time. It isn't a bootstrap paradox; it is a grandfather's paradox. She went back in time, changing events that would lead her coming there in the first place to see her father before he died. Doing something that can't be explained by causality. Meaning one event leading to the next.

ArcDragoon I was going to say something about Before the Flood, but that makes more sense
@Gamelover2546 жыл бұрын
The Doctor explains it in “Fires of Pompeii”. Some points are fixed and others are not. That’s how the Doctor sees the world, so he’s able to see what events are fixed and which are not. Honestly it was an explanation that basically said your watching a fun time travel show, stop with the over analyzing 😆
@RedMatterProductions6 жыл бұрын
ArcDragoon With regards to the Reapers not showing up again. The Doctor actually explains that the Timelords are usually the ones who would stop this sort of thing from happening. But during the RTD era, they weren’t exactly around to stop it. I’ve always judged it that the timelords were dead throughout the RTD era until the Doctor rebooted the universe in Series 5, hence making the Moffat timeline more prominent and the timelords just tucked away, hence why the Reapers never truly returned again. But according to the Tardis wiki, if a paradox is strong enough, one that not even the timelords could hold it back, the Reapers would return.

I don't know if anyone knew that these creatures were based of the Grim Reaper, hence why they are called Reapers and if you look at their tails, the tips are in the shape of the Grim Reaper's scythe. I think the Reapers are interesting. I like how they have a dragon-like designed to them instead of a skeleton in a cloak carrying a scythe.

Would those monsters also appear if Rose stopped James Garfield or JFK's assassinations, made sure Tom Dula didn't turn criminal, made sure Hitler stayed in art school? To make amends, the companion tells McKinley... "Damn it... Mr. President.. Just go in front of Czolgosz's handkerchief gun...." Then... McKinley decides to accept his fate. When McKinley goes to shake Czolgosz's hand before the Reaper monster gets him, Czolgosz fires point blank at the president. Ouch. Can't fight fate.
I heard the reapers were originally going to look like the grim reaper but they looked too much like the robots from End of the World and to be honest I would have preferred it if they kept that. My suggestion would be to give them white cloaks to make them stand out more and maybe give them masks.
