I think people forget that no one before 1983 had seen Shada and so this must've been pretty cool back in the day. I also hear that Terrence Dicks had intended for the Five Doctors to revolve around the fourth doctor but i can't really remember where i heard that from so take that with a grain of salt

You’re right, iirc Tom may or may not have been behind the Time Scoop or look as if he was betraying his other selves alongside Borusa. It’s in one of the archive books or dvd commentaries.

It comes up in various interviews and DVD extras: Originally TomDoc was going to be the one sleuthing around in the Capitol and discovering who was behind everything. Terrance says that actually once he swapped Peter into that role it ended up better, because really the current Doctor (i.e. PD at the time) shouldn't be upstaged or marginalised in the story by an earlier one. So if Tom had changed his mind again at the very last minute, he would either have been told "too late, sorry", or have ended up with a much smaller part in the plot anyway.

Would have loved how the fourth Doctor would have interacted with his other selves in the 20th. With the first he’d have found him slightly distant but both had that other worldliness The second, this would have made a fantastic pairing. The cosmic hobo and the bohemian eccentric. The Third? Forget it. Two alpha males who would have avoided each other. The Fifth he’d have looked on as wet blanket and slightly embarrassed with.

We all have our favorite Doctor, it's usually the one we grew up with, the one we saw first. I'm an American who grew up on Doctor Who via PBS, and it was all out of order, but Tom Baker was my first. When they re-ran the Pertwee era, I liked him a lot... but I kind of love them all, for different reasons, because they are so different. I think Peter Davidson did a great job during his "regeneration," embodying all of the previous doctors while creating his own character, an "old man" in a new man's body, he's actually been my favorite even though I started with Baker, and he ran for longer. AS for Collin Baker...I think he got shafted. So did Eccleston. But what do I know? I'm an American fan of classic Who.

Eccleston had he’d not suffered under a passive-aggressive production team he was having to deal with would have been one of the all time greats had he’d stayed on for at least 3/4 seasons. C Baker? H’mm, he as a lot of apologists and he was treated like s**t but I never thought he was a tv leading man in any sense.

@@stormhawk3319 I think that if you take away the purposely gaudy costume and the unwise "regeneration trauma" that makes you actually fear for Peri's life while watching, he could have had a fine run. He worked with the material they gave him. They wrote his Doctor with little humility or curiosity, that's certain. But i will admit, I was so put off by that point, I didn't even give Silvester McCoy a chance until the very bad TV movie with Paul McGann. A product is only as good as the materials it's made of and the craftsmanship put into it.

Much better edit than we did get from the original and special edition dvd versions well edited and was a bit more of tom in the story (i think since not timed it with original cut etc).

Very clever! 😄 I imagine these bits added would have actually enhanced even more the pace and tension if added judging by this - it does add that extra level of peril and tension - especially if it was the Special Ed.

Mostly this makes me feel sad that Shada never got properly made, that punting scene is so utterly wonderful and fantastic. I’d watch an entire episode of the Fourth Doctor and Romana punting down a river like that and bantering idly with dialogue written by Douglas Adams.

I'd like to see THE FOUR DOCTORS using clips from the shows 15th anniversary in 1978. When the Missing Adventures novels were first published in the mid 90's when I was a kid, I tried writing it myself as a sequel to Planet of the Spiders. It involved Sarah Jane Smith becoming possessed by the great one queen spider & contacting the Doctor & Romana 1 in order to use the blue crystal to turn earth into Metebelis 4, the power from wich fragments The Doctor into his 4 Incarnations up until then & scattered through a web in time that they all had to reach the centre of to become whole again

Here is my version of The Five Doctors: The Fifth Doctor, Adric and Nyssa, Tegan, and Turlough are taking a break at the Eye of Orion, one of the most tranquil spots in the universe In the TARDIS control room, the Doctor, Adric, and Nyssa have just finished renovating the control console, which now has a more hi-tech look. Turlough is sketching. Tegan is enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. It's a change from their non-stop adventures that leave them no time to relax. The Doctor, Adric, and Nyssa go outside to join their friends and enjoy the peace and quiet. When Tegan wonders why it is so restful there, the doctor explains that it is because of the bombardment of positive ions. Elsewhere, in a hidden chamber, a dark figure - who shall be referred to as the Player - manipulates the controls of a forbidden device called the Time Scoop and kidnaps the First Doctor, Ben Jackson and Polly Wright as they walks through a rose garden. The Player takes a figurine of the First Doctor, Ben and Polly from a window-shaped wall alcove and places it on one of five spots on a diorama, which lights up in response. Back on the Eye of Orion, the Fifth Doctor feels a pain in his chest but dismisses the thought that anything is wrong with him as Turlough and Tegan, nyssa and adric look worriedly at him. Elsewhen, Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart is at a UNIT reunion. He talks to his replacement friend, Colonel John Benton , about their former scientific adviser, the doctor; it seems that UNIT had been unable to track him down for the reunion. The Brigadier says, "Wonderful chap - all of them" Suddenly, the Second Doctor, Jamie McCrimmon and Zoe Heriot bursts through the door, having barged past the sergeant on duty, happy to see their old friend. They take a walk. As they walk and talk in the yard about their times together, the Second Doctor tells Brigadier and Jamie, Zoe, that they must go as they are bending the Laws of Time. However, they are snatched up by the Time Scoop. Models of them appear in the wall alcove, and the player puts them in the spot next to the First Doctor, Ben and Polly. The Fifth Doctor feels another pain and collapses after reassuring Adric, Nyssa, and Tegan, Turlough, that everything's all right. Elsewhen, the Third Doctor is driving his vintage car, Bessie. He notices the Time Scoop coming towards him. He tries to evade it, but is taken anyway; a figure of him appears in the wall alcove and placed into the next spot on the diorama along side with Jo Grant and Steven Taylor, Bret Vyon and Romana I . The Fifth Doctor tells his companions he must get back to the TARDIS. There is something definitely wrong with his past, and he is in immediate danger. As he puts it, "A man is the sum of his memories, a Time Lord even more so." He is near the TARDIS when he collapses in pain as his third incarnation is snatched. He tells his companions he has to find "my other selves..." Sarah Jane Smith is about to leave home. K9 warns her not to. He senses there is danger, and it somehow involves the doctor. He suggests she take him with her. Unfortunately, her car is out of action and she has to take the bus. Believing K9 is overreacting, she dismisses his worry and heads off. Somewhere else, the Fourth Doctor and Romana II are enjoying a punt along the River Cam in Cambridge. They are Time Scooped by the player as well. He can take figures of the Fourth Doctor and Romana from the wall alcove and placed into the next spot on the diorama. Waiting at the bus stop, Sarah is snatched by the Time Scoop, and her figurine placed in the diorama alongside the Harry Sullivan and Katarina, Sara Kingdom, Vicki Pallister and Dodo Chaplet. The Fifth Doctor and his companions have entered the TARDIS. After setting a destination on the console and starting the TARDIS off, with adric and nyssa help, he collapses after his fourth incarnation is snatched. He begins fading into the Time Stream, but Adric, Nyssa, and Tegan, Turlough, keep him in existence by encouraging him. The TARDIS lands, and the scanner shows a desolate, rocky landscape - the Death Zone on Gallifrey. All the Doctors and their companions have actually been deposited on a desolate, rocky landscape - the Death Zone on Gallifrey. Figures of the Fifth Doctor, Adric and Nyssa, Tegan, and Turlough have been placed on the diorama section next to the First Doctor, Ben Jackson, and Polly Wright Meanwhile, in the Capitol on Gallifrey, the Inner Council of Time Lords, headed by Lord President Borusa and consisting of Chancellor Flavia and the Castellan, are in session. Despite the recently regenerated and still arrogant Borusa's misgivings, the High Council has voted unanimously to call in the Monk, the Master and the Tremas Master to go into the Death Zone to help the Doctor, who has been taken out of time and no longer exists in any of his regenerations. They explain that the Eye of Harmony is being drained by whoever is taking the Doctors out of time, endangering all of Gallifrey. Offered a pardon and a new cycle of regenerations if he rescues the doctors, the tremas Master accepts. They are given a copy of the Seal of the High Council by Castellan to prove their credentials and a transmat recall device. They are transmatted to the Death Zone. In the Zone, the doctors face many dangers. The First Doctor, Ben and Polly found themselves in a corridor with mirrored walls and is reunited with his granddaughter, Susan, and their old friends, Ian Chesterton and Barbara Wright. Their reunion is cut short when a Dalek arrives and tries to kill them. They trick the Dalek into destroying itself by pushing it into a dead end, where a beam from its energy weapon bounces back off the shiny walls and destroys it; as the Doctor points out, "It's very dangerous to fire energy weapons in an enclosed space!" The explosion has blasted a hole in the wall, out which is what the Doctor and Susan recognise as the Death Zone on Gallifrey. The Second Doctor and Jamie, Zoe and the Brigadier finds themselves in a slate quarry is reunited with their old friends Victoria Waterfield, Dodo Chaplet who brought by the Monk and manage to convince the second doctor he is there to help their reunions is cut short when Jamie points to a silvery figure in the mist, then they realize in horror of the silvery figure as They crouch down beside an old wall, where two silver hand reaches through and grabs the Brigadier and the monk's arm. They calls out in pain and the Doctor, Jamie and Dodo tries to pull him away in vain, Zoe, Victoria finds two metal bar and hits the silver hands with it until it lets go, then they escape from a squad of Cybermen. Jo Grant wanders into a deserted street and meets Steven Taylor and Bret Vyon and Romana I. They examines one of several shop mannequins scattered about, then Jo realises in horror as the autons springs up and grabs her by the throat but steven taylor and bret vyon pull her away from the autons grap then was corned by The other Autons who rise up and move in for the kill. At that moment, the Third Doctor races up in Bessie and pulls Jo, Steven, and Bret away as the Autons prime their weapons. Bessie's path is obstructed by a roadblock. While the Doctor and Jo, Steven and Bret clear the obstruction of the Autons attack. The doctor is about to be blasted when the Autons all suddenly collapse as the Nestene controlling them withdraws. The danger gone, Jo then realises that she has been rescued by her Doctor but steven was confuse since he and katarina stay on the elder planet and say goodbye to the first doctor, bret vyon and sara kingdom, dodo chaplet but bret vyon soon discover this is the same doctor since he and sara, ben and polly, dodo watch him regenerate. The Fourth Doctor and Romana II found themselves in cave tunnels that are covered with ice, where they have reached a burning beacon. The Doctor takes one of a pair of metal 'torches' and lights it from the fire and head down the tunnels when they sees a shadow to the fourth doctor happiness to see Sarah Jane Smith, Harry Sullivan then suddenly Something has caught the light of the torch in the cave wall as they got closer harry see wall made of ice then he see something inside the ice then fourth doctor and romana II, Sarah are horrifed to fist of an Ice Warrior smashes through the ice and move in for the kill at the moment Sara Kingdom along with Katarina and Vicki and she shot and kill the ice warrior much to the fourth doctor happiness to see them again while vicki, Katarina is confuse since he left vicki after she falling in love with a man, Troilus, whom she met in ancient Troy and katarina falling in love with steven taylor stay on an Earth-like planet and say goodbye to the first doctor, Sara Kingdom and Bret Vyon, Dodo Chaplet, then sara kingdom this is same doctor then suddenly a few more ice warriors arrives and tries to kill them, they trick one of them accidentally shoot the rock above them causing a rockfall, blocking and killing them but the fourth doctor, Romana II and Sarah, Harry and Sara, Katarina and Vicki manage to find cave exit to scrubby moorland where katarina see a desolate place with the Tower in the distance which made the fourth doctor, romana II horrfied to realise that dark tower of the death zone on Gallifrey.
