Doctor Who Guide: The Lost Season 27

Oh yeah, I have a KZbin channel. Here it is, at long last, the Doctor Who Guide on the Lost Season 27! I was hoping to have it done by December for the 30th anniversary of Survival, but couldn't make it. Oh well, here it is a little bit late!

You forgot to mention that in Alixion, The Doctor's literal mind game battle with the manipulative bank manager would have been so draining that it would have destroyed all his life cells, causing him to regenerate into The 8th Doctor.

god, imagine the sheer awesome Dr. Who would have undergone in the 90s. The show would have basically gotten a second spring. Yes, Dr. Who would have done great in the 90s, especially towards 1994-1995.

It’s a good thing and a bad thing that Season 27 was never produced. It was bad because we wanted to see more of Sylvester McCoy and the series progress. It was good because it kept 7th and Ace together via the mystique and Ace wouldn’t leave in Gallifrey and McCoy would not leave and regenerate into a time of uncertainty. But kudos that Season 24-26 only had about 4 Stories and less per season.

The working titles in 1989 for the first three were Bad Destination, Thin Ice and Action At a Distance respectively. Then Earth Aid, Ice Time and Crime of the Century were titles made up for the article. Big Finish then used those articles titles except in the case of Thin Ice

Tim Curry I think would have been a good Eighth Doctor he was offered the role for the 1996 TV Movie but turned it down for Muppet Treasure Island.

Nigel Havers would have made a great 8th Doctor back in 1991. He had longish hair back then and would have looked badass and cool.

Crime of the Century? That plot and the beats you listed are from the Dr. Who RPG from FASA. It was the vignette to explain character creation and system rules.

Patrick Stewart. Now, for the Television Movie, he was considered in the role early on, dropping it after he had contractual obligations with Star Trek The Next Generation. But, in 1990-91, Season 4 of the Next Generation was playing to critical success. You had the Best of Both Worlds playing, a serial made with the intended fact (At the time) of giving Patrick Stewart a departure. So, You would have Picard either die, or forced to retire in Star Trek, giving Riker the reigns of the show and giving them a big push into the series, having a brand new "How will the crew act with Riker in Charge" Dynamic, wile Stewart takes in the Reigns of Doctor Who. In this thought process however Paul McGann Still becomes 9th Doctor in 1996, since they would want Stewart to be in the show as long as possible, having a "Picard-Type" Personality, but otherwise there it would be for the 1990s. Well, Michael, you might have gotten your wish, there since maybe for the 7th season episode of STNG “Parallels’, “Captain Picard was killed…. In the incident with the Borg..” as Riker mentioned and that universe would’ve probably signed Patrick Stewart to be the next Doctor. In that case, McGann would’ve been 9th, but maybe we would’ve had different actors.

If the writing had been like The Curse of Fenric in the McCoy era it would have lasted longer If the stories of Colin Baker's era, had been more like Resurrection of the Daleks and Earthshock and dare I say, Attack of the Cybermen and The Two Doctors it would have been brilliant Ok - get rid of the 6th costume

Richard Griffiths was the obvious choice but Ian Richardson, Michael Kitchen, and Paul Freeman all got mentioned in DWM polls during the 1990's if the show had been brought back. All three actors had appeared in the BBC's highly successful "House of Cards" trilogy between 1990 and 1995.

I think 90s Who would have been a hell of a lot grittier, with sprinkles of the themes of the Virgin New Adventures in there. Would have been very cool to see.

Sylvester McCoy Stated That He Didn't want to give up working on the series and neither did Sophie Aldred. If doctor who had carried into the 90s. Then I think ace would have went on for another 2 Seasons And Sylvester McCoy would have went on for another 4 Seasons And Sylvester McCoy would have Regenerated At The End Of Season 30 And Would've introduce to Paul McGann As The Eighth Doctor.

He'd been at it since the 60s or 70s but stuck to the stage - particularly Stratford, where, at that time, you got no end of Who guest stars Shakespearing.

Doctor Who Was slowly deteriorating during Colin baker and Sylvester McCoy's Era Because The Television Networks At The Time Became Used To doing soap dramas and reality TV shows. This is how it got axed for 16 years.

I remember that before Sylvester McCoy was known to be finishing off Doctor Who there had been speculation that Jim Dale might have been the next Doctor. There had also been talk of Joanna Lumley prior to Colin Baker.

Pretty sure the fourth serial of Season 27 would’ve been Blood and Iron (or Animal as Big Finish’s adaptation is called, but I personally don’t like that title).

Yeah, but not with the original stories they planned to do. There was an 18 month hiatus where the show was almost cancelled, after which it was brought back and they did Trial of a Time Lord instead.
