Two reasons why this video is awesome. 1. Doctor Who. 2. John Hurt.

I wish Sir John Hurt had been able to deliver at least one more onscreen performance as the Doctor. I feel like The Day of the Doctor was the culmination of his entire career. All those other roles he played throughout his life were preparing him for the time where he would play "the one who broke the promise". Sir John was already legendary outside of Doctor Who but very few actors could be hired at the last moment and play an iconic character in a franchise that's at the peak of its popularity whilst making it feel like he should have been there all along.

I reckon John Hurt should have his own BIG FINISH audio adventures as the WAR Doctor! That would be something! What do you guys think? It helped people keep in touch with Paul McGann after his 1 episode, so I think they should do it for John too.

They don't have the license to make anything from the new series, but that would be fantastic when they do get it.

Doctor Who Fan Are there audio fan fictions in english? In the french speaking countries, we have a lot of amateur audio plays (called "sagas mp3"), and I even think one or two parodies of Doctor Who. I've always wondered if that was a thing in other languages too.

Just an idea but I think Paul Darrow (Avon in the old Blakes Seven series) would make a good Dr Who, he already said in an interview that he'd like to play him. He's 72 now but would make a refreshing change from the string of younger docs.

I love John Hurt especially his portrayal of Caligula and Quentin Crisp but I did not find him remarkable as "The War Doctor", he looked confused with the script and his character was underplayed. Perhaps that is why Chris Eccelston did not come back. Exclaiming "FANTASTIC !" would not be a plot enough.

Even the greatest actors in the world struggle to mine gold from poor scripts. Not that I'm saying the 50th was bad or anything, but Sir John probably didn't have a whole lot to work with and didn't have a lot of time to find his character like David and Matt did.
