I would like to point out, that the Spice Girls song was just sort of happening. There were no hidden speakers or any sort of device playing the song. The Toymaker just sort of, made the song start happening when he first showed up. XD

The more I think about it, the more The Doctor's statement of Order, Chaos, and Play makes so much sense. Fun is chaotic, but it also orderly. A game is only fun if everyone plays by the rules, but Play by it's very nature changes the rules. Both Chaotic and Orderly, yet neither... Play.

Now that I think about, you're right. Play is "structured chaos" , which sounds like an oksimoron but its true. A game is only fun if everyone respects the rules, but the rules are also subject to constant change depending on the game and who's playing it.

This immortal and powerful antagonist of The Doctor has many names which includes; 1) Celestial Toymaker 2) Guardian of Dreams 3) The Crystal Guardian 4) The Mandarin 5) No Cha While the Daleks are deadly and the Master's Time Lord abilities can hinder the Doctor at the best of times, they're like bullies on a playground compared to a being that has the powers of a God. With the ability to create entire universes and manipulate everyone and everything in them for his sick form of entertainment, he's the biggest threat the Doctor has ever come up against. Nothing is more dangerous than a being with the powers of a God but has the mindset and maturity of a sociopathic/psychotic child.

I love how the doctor gave up in this scene, in a week or so both the master and the toymaker danced while the doctor's completely powerless (I actually don't know how much time passed between the giggle and power of the doctor but I assume it's still very very recent)

It's a hour (60 minutes) in the CiN special (Destination: Skaro), then some time during the Star Beast (they travel overnight through the attics of the neighbouring houses), then the Wilde Blue Yonder takes some hours on the ship (remember that Jimbo moves very slooooooowly) and the Doctor returns with Donna two days later to meet the Toymaker. Sure they have a time machine, so "2 days later" could just mean the TARDIS took a shortcut and what's few hours for the crew might be more for the outside universe, but I'd still take the time aboard the ship at the edge of the known universe into consideration.

I can't tell what I find funniest with this scene, the Doctors perpetual expression of "why do they all dance when they make an entrance or gonna do something evil, I am too old for this shit" or the look of absolute confusion on Kate's face while the Toymaker is dancing with her, she is clearly a bit scared but also thinking "why am I doing this"

Zombicide is a COOPERATIVE game. of course, given how powerful this guy is, there's an excellent chance he'd decide to "LARP" it and cause an actual zombie apocalypse.

i mean it doesn't even have to come to the "LARP" argument. playing a coopertive game with someone where you goal is to win and their goal is to make you lose seems like a bad idea. then again i'd assume that part of "challeging" the toymaker to game carries cosmic rules such as there must be a winner and a loser(or the possibility of a draw(allthough i wonder if that's considered a bug rather than a feature when it happens)).

"the giggle" was just part of a larger game, after all. now, whether it was a game delibrately aimed at the Doctor, or just him playing "solitaire" is hard to say...there MAY be more going on here than we get to see in a single episode..though i don't credit the writers with all that much saavy. one or two story beats like the Master's gold tooth prison, and they'll make the rest up if/when they get around to it. Or maybe not. hard to say. regardless...he"won" the game by making everyone THINK they "had the 'Winning" opinion. anyone who's played any sort of game should know there is a VAST gulf between THINKING you've won and actually doing it.
