In 1989, Rona Munro wrote a story called "Survival" which in a bitter irony ended up being the final story of Classic Who. "The Eaters of Light" makes her the only writer to this day to have penned episodes of both Classic and New Who.

I think this is the best season of the Moffat era (Smith included), and I really love this episode. There's something poetic about it and I think it looks gorgeous.

This story was inspired by a genuine historical mystery. We don't know what happened to the IX Legion, as it disappeared from the historical record. But of course we have a lot of gaps in our knowledge of those times, so we don't know if the Legion genuinely "disappeared" (presumably having been wiped out by Picts), or if it was transferred somewhere else. Various historians have argued for either theory. If it was transferred elsewhere it must've been disbanded for some reason not too long afterwards, because there are later Roman lists of all the legions and they don't include the IX.

I actually think Peter Capaldi's third season is one of his best ones personally because it was different I don't see how it is samey I didn't see it samey at all but that's just me I respect some episodes aren't for everyone but i do respectfully disagree and feel you missed some of the points of the episode. The scene where Bill knocked out the Doctor even though Bill didn't do a very good job at it she did that to stop the Doctor from sacrificing himself. I agree that Doctor Who should be different bit I'm the opposite i think the Doctor should get off earth more and fight monsters and Daleks than them focus on the whole soap opera route.

it's important to note, this is the season that started to bomb review the show because it became "woke" and stuff, and it just gets worse, however most of fandom agrees this is 12th's best season

This. Reviews get increasingly irrelevant from the start of this season. Not unique to Doctor Who - people do the same thing to the Marvel shows, the Star Wars shows, the Star Trek shows... Basically, if it gets popular - there's a crowd of people dedicated to review-bombing it.

Those IMDB ratings for season 10 are so depressing, season 10 is one of the best in New Who and the fact like none of them that you checked got an 8 is sad

It’s such a shame that you aren’t enjoying this series and even think it’s the weakest so far. You probably wouldn’t believe it but series 10 is often considered the best in the shows history by the fandom. I’ve seen plenty of series ranking videos and series 10 usually falls between 1st to 4th place, usually placed in between series 4 and 5. Series 10 feels different because it is trying to be a fresh start for new viewers. The first episode is even called the pilot in reference to how a tv show’s first episode is called a pilot episode. This new start means writers focused on creating fun, goofy stories rather than continuing the dramatic tone of series 8 and 9. This leads to series 10 feeling better to rewatch than watching for the first time because it is a short and sweet series long story separate from the rest of the show.

This is a quite sweet episode. I probably like the writing of the characters more than the story itself, but it's a beautiful, low key, heart warming episode. A good filler episode. Thanks for a great reaction and a fantastic youtube channel.
