I haven't seen most of Classic Who in about 10 years including this story. I remember it being a good story and one of my favourite stories of the McCoy era. After watching your videos you've help me realise that the McCoy is better that I remember. The bits of this story I like that I remember is the Dalek going up stairs, Ace hitting a dalek with a baseball bat and when they have the TV on and they leave the room when it says that there is a new science fiction show is about to start on the BBC and it cuts the scene when it says what is, imply that it is Doctor Who.

Group captain gilmore and the two women have a big finish spin off series and probably a novel or two called 'counter measures' and also 'the new counter measures', where they are sort of a pseudo unit/torchwood type of group, not actually part of unit though

Love Remembrance! Thanks for sticking up with McCoy. The fandom in general is hard on him especially the older fans but yes, he’s a chest master strategist and darker than the other incarcerations. He is on fire in this story. My favorite era. I think Whitaker’s Doctor should be on the Care Bears where she joins them by firing rainbows from her belly. lol

McCoy might not be the best actor in the role, but his doctor was good and his era was great.

Glad you enjoyed it. It is one of my favourite Dalek stories, and despite its flaws, I find it really rewatchable. I think it does play a little too much to history (are we seeing the origins of UNIT? “Brigadier!”, the new science fiction show, Doctor…), but it’s well written. The narrative makes sense - the motives are pretty logical on all sides. It definitely makes more sense than hollowing out the core of the Earth and piloting it around the galaxy (yes, I’ve just rewatched Invasion of Earth!)

I sorta wish this was the official anniversary episode as that would make the cringey "easter eggs" feel less distracting to N otherwise solid story. 3 is a huge pickup compared to 2. The late 80s had rainbow-everything. Modern day PCs have LEDs that puke unicorn too 🦄. Loved the shiny new Emperor. Ace going out for fresh air had bad acting. It took the novelization for me to realize it, and the novelizations do what the tv versions could not. Ace should have looked more disgusted, but she does convey it well enough. Still felt too flat-affect and Ace isn't a Vulcan. Ep 4 is great, apart from - in retrospect - blowing up Skaro, and the Doctor nagging a Dalek to death. People often conflate Doctor for era. Even after season 24 there's enough bad music, bad outfit, and other content that the dark is overshadowed by the camp. But the Doctor addressing Davros with the non-pity tries hard to make up for it and does work :) I sorta liked how it was pre-unit and even the Doctor mistakes his name. That probably caused UNIT to be formed with that command structure, hehe

My first and favourite McCoy story. Should've been the 25th Anniversary story instead of Silver Nemisis. So many references in this one that I honestly lose count really fast. Perhaps the best out of the bunch is where they almost name drop the name of the whole series. And here I thought that Hartnell was good at breaking the fourth wall at the end of The Feast of Steven during The Daleks Masterplan. It is also my personal favourite classic series Dalek story out of all the one's that have been released over the years that it is safe to say that the Daleks ended their time in the classic series with a bang. Quite literally. Even though that the cliffhanger with the Imperial Dalek Mothership landing right in the middle of the playground plus The Doctor looking up to the camera and saying: "I guess that I might've miscalculated." and winking before looking back down is so bizarre. Also, before that I forget, I thought that I should mention the outtakes that this story has. They are so hilarious that my personal favourite one out of the bunch where McCoy says: "You Chunky lover!" to Group Captain Gilmore as that wasn't in the script. Although it did however, take me a while to realise that he was referring to the type of gun and not the Kit-Kat biscuit variant 😂

@@charlieturner3143 yeah Dalek is my favorite Dalek story as well, it’s soooo personal between the Dalek and Nine. My second favorite is Power and third is Genesis.

Like this story. It starts to add a lot to the Dr WHO Mythos. Nice to see the Daleks get some nice Action and Pre-Unit Team stuff. And I think McCoy uses that Falsetto Voice because of his Soft Accent. I don't think he is a very good YELLER! His type of voice dosen't lent itself well to doing it.

I really like this Dalek story. It's my favorite 80s Doctor who Dalek story. But I I really don't like the resolution of the story. I don't like that The Doctor tricks the Daleks into using the weapon and destroying themselves and presumably Skaro. I don't like the doctor getting a Dalek into killing its self. Other than that it's a great story. And I hate to admit but you're right about Jodie Whitaker doctor hammering the point when it's very sutal here. But it could be just the time it was made it was the only way they could make the point. I have also heard that Ace is ment to be a lesbian so that was very sutal too.

I’ve never really thought of ace as lesbian but I find with her it’s more if you see it then you see it and if you don’t then you don’t. Either way is fine though. I enjoy this story but yeah the part when he makes the Dalek basically kill itself is a bit much. My least favorite of the 80s Dalek stories but all three are really good.
