I love all three episodes! This is my favorite with Jinkx Monsoon giving a superbly fulminant performance! Like Tim Curry's iconic performance of Frank'n'Furter in Rocky Horror Picture show, only even more menacing and deranged! Their expressive face can convey volumes with just a moue or twitch of the eyebrow! The Dynamic between Ruby and trhe Doctor is being fleshed out nicely and will reach a high point in the next episode "Boom!".

Excellent review and commentary. Your channel deserves to be a great deal bigger - and I'm sure it will be. Jinkx was outstandingly good, conveying classic "Vincent Price"-pedigree evil laced with curiously uncanny (but chillingly funny) humour. Ncuti showed amazing range and versality: the joyous, energetic, youthful version of his Doctor has a sombre, dark-mooded and even slightly mournful shadow, and he conveyed these shades brilliantly. Loved the fast-deepening bond between him and Ruby, too - real magic at work there.

So this whole Celestials arc started with 14 and Donna meeting the creatures in Wild Blue Yonder, allowing them into this universe to start messing with our reality. Ah yeah the fourth wall breaks and ending dance number make a lot more sense if another Celestial is making all of reality a theatre/TV production, nice theory! But wait we've had the Toymaker (games) and Maestro (music) so would that make the Oldest.... telling (imagined) stories?

I commented on your last video (loved that one too) that I think there is going to be a connection between Ruby and the pantheon. I could be totally wrong though. I adored Jinkx Monsoon in this episode! They are amazingly fun all the time but anytime she is in drag.... it is a real treat! I look forward to seeing more episodes and reviews. i think ruby is actuually one of the toymakers legions but not knowing, her mum wanted her to grow up to be kind and good whiislt seeing all the others grow to be evil, so she left her at the cchurch to be fostered into a family who will look after her properly. If im right i think this gets heavily hinted at that there is a connection between ruby and the legions in the legend of ruby road, then its confirmed at the cliimax of the final episode where we will likely seee them going head to head with the one who waits. we need to remember RTD always wanted to be a companion growing up, so he always makes the last episode be a huge plot revolving around the companion rather then the doctor

@@TardisTalksi dunno about a fairy, but i do think some celestial being. My hope is that she is a celestrial in the sense of a toy maker but i worry that it might be she is a celestial in the sense of a timeless child. I was under the impression RTD would acknowledge it a bit without exploring too far into it, but the more i think about it and the more i see, the more it points that way. Both ruby and the doctor are orphans, they dont know where they come from, they were found on there own as a baby took in and raised by a different species of people (assuming ruby is not human which is likely the case)….. even writing this, i am thinking that the time lord archives were incomplete and there was more timeless children and they wanted to save ruby which is why they left them there. I really hope its not that, and im praying she is one of the toymakers legions but i think they both fit too well

Yes upon rewatch I figured this out. wasn't made really clear this is what happened though as normally we would have like an adventure follow on from the last its kinda made me not realise a time jump, but will be keeping an eye out for more of those.

The mystery of the Timeless Child & The Doctor's true origins has something to do with what is going on. RTD has fully embraced it and it 8s central to the ongoing story.

Hi 👋 you came up in my recommended and I thought I would have a look. I will go back and watch you Space Babies review to see if yours is the same as mine again. You are the first I have heard voice my thoughts on the 4th wall breaks and the reason behind it. I believe the same as you that the reason is a tv show. When Tenant changes gravity to Mavity and then spreads the salt it creates this whole scenario and allows reality and fantasy to mix. I am a fan from Pertwee's era but one who likes changes so a go with the flow type person. I have subscribed and look forward to seeing your opinion on Boom when it is released. I am also looking forward to seeing if our theory works out BUT should warn you I had a theory for the 60th and the only parts that turned out to be right were that Mavity and the salt would be more important than people thought the rest was very very wrong 😂😂

All controversy aside, The episode was mediocre in it's writing, the sfx was overdone and sometimes amateurish in presentation, and what finally dragged this episode into the BAD episode column was the need to include a Disney "High School Musical" number at the end which pretty much was insulting to a program that finally started to take itself seriously, from its revival in 2005, even with some of the stumbles it might have had in those 15 years It used to be about writing and presenting compelling stories and acting. Disney's present brand can't even decide to treat younger viewers like they can be intelligent and figure things out for themselves intelligently. I 'm truly saddened by the loss of quality storytelling.

Yeah was a long night making these reviews as being in the uk I had the unlucky time of midnight to watch both episodes and write up reviews and complete 2 full videos so i regrettably missed this in the first viewing but I caught up with this in a viewing last night so awesome stuff but I thought this wasn't made clear enough to be honest as its a big kind of format change from what we are used to as each adventure is usually depicted as taking off from the previous one so an easy miss for us i guess :) Thanks for letting me know though:P

Yeah we never used to have like month gaps in between unless it was usually clearly stated at the beginning of an episode.. or chaptered throughout then we knew it had been 6 months or a year or we have jumped back 25 years.. instead it was a throw away line towards the end of the devil's chord.

Third rate acting, terrible script writing. And whenever someone complains they're accused of being a bigot. It's not about bigotry, its about poor storylines and poor actors. I don't care if the Doctor is female, black, pink or blue. Just give them a decent script and decent storylines. And stop pushing the message. It was pretty dire episode 1 and two wasn't much in evidence. What the hell was that American style college dancing at the end ? Utter tosh so far with no magic and poor scripts.

Awful stuff. Fashions were completely wrong. The Beatles were completely wrong - far too old and woefully miscast. The resolution with "John" and "Paul" on the piano was, frankly, rubbish. The prologue would've been better set in 1963, and the final dance number... just no. Taking the Doctor and Millie to the Cavern or Hamburg for a rock out with the pre-fame Beatles would've worked better, except that the aforementioned actors would've looked like yer Dad's wedding band. Jinx was charismatic and potentially a goid villain, but the story itself was a load of Disneyfied drivel. I get there's supernatural threads been introduced (hence the Doctor getting scared) via the 14th's deployment of the salt line at the outer edge of timespace, but the manifestations so far were very easily defeated (especially the Toymaker - I mean, "catch" FFS!!!) Ncuti Gatwa is, however, just luminous as the Doctor, Millie Gibson a bit OTT but basically good. And I strongly suspect she will be revealed as: - The Doctor's daughter... - The Doctor's granddaughter, or... - The Doctor's great granddaughter. That could be really good, but I hope 15 and/or 14 go back and rectify that salt line stunt and eliminate all this fantasy stuff. It's British Sci-Fi FFS!!!

In the twenty-seven years of the classic series, the show had nine producers. In the nineteen years of the new series, it's only had three. That's a problem. Incidentally, or not so incidentally, the last of the original producers, John Nathan-Turner, was a homosexual, but neither talked about it nor felt that it had anything to do with the show. All he wanted was to tell fun, exciting sci-fi stories with perhaps a bit of food for thought.

To be fair.. the original run was constantly full of issues behind the scenes hence why there was so many showrunners and producers.. The new series having less is actually a good thing.. And for the last comment it was 1989.. big difference in culture and acceptance so there is nothing to compare there. Its just sad that all people can see is this in the new run and its stopping them from seeing much else of the show.

The time era is irrelevant; people knew about JNT and Gary Downie, and in general it didn't make anyone no never-mind.
