Doctor Who: Series 11 Tribute Trailer

With another series of adventures in space & time over and a New Year’s Day ‘Resolution’ on the horizon, there's no better time to look back at the thrill-ride that was Doctor Who Series 11!
Back in October our beautiful Ghost Monument returned to our screens piloted by a brand new Doctor & accompanied by brand new companions and brand new monsters!
Everything felt fresh with everybody clearly working tirelessly behind the scenes to bring the Whoniverse to life in such a visually delightful and authentic way. Frankly the show has never looked better. As for the Doctor herself, how lucky are we to have such a beacon of light & optimism like Jodie Whittaker as our favourite 2000+ year old renegade Time Lord. She was born for this role and brings an incredible new lease a life to the Doctor. Plus we also have a wonderful new Team TARDIS (or fam) in Ryan, Yaz & Graham - Graham being a personal stand-out. Bradders NAILS it. Beyond my own narrative niggles with certain episodes, I’m just overwhelmed to see my favourite show back on form and back in the limelight again. So of course I had to whip up something before the year was out!
I’m quite torn what to label this video, I like to think of it as a ‘Cinema Trailer’ but I feel it’s a tad spoilery for that. Then again that might just be because the original pre-series marketing was so withheld and barely showed anything that by comparison this is like GAH. So let’s call it a tribute trailer. Like a hybrid. It’s a celebration of the Thirteenth Doctor’s journey so far.
Sorry for the delay in getting this video out, it’s been a crazy past few months at work - the trailer world stops for no one - so I’ve had to dip in & out. However, I do hope you enjoy the finished product as much as I have creating it. Thanks again for all your patience, love and support - truly it means the world! There’s some exciting projects in the pipeline for next year so make sure ya stay tuned!

Agreed. Series 11 wasn't perfect (but then what is?) and I'm guilty of picking at its flaws as much as the next Whovian but the end of Capaldi's run was getting a bit stale (not down to Capaldi but more Moffat and the production I reckon). I don't think its deserving of unadulterated praise nor the vitriolic hate that suggests we bundle it up and fire it into the sun - its not the best but probably not the worst either. The 'freshness' of series 11 has actually re-energised my interest in Doctor Who again and I'm hoping that series 12 will be bigger and better, building on the foundation of what has gone before. Roll on 2020! 🤞

Series 11 was far from a perfect series, but it was hardly a dumpster fire. Even though the writing wasn't particularly stellar (specifically Chibnall's, aside from The Woman Who Fell to Earth), it did feel quite fresh and I'm more than willing to give series 12 a chance. As for this trailer, that's some damn fine work, chaps :D

@PikaCinema A small number of people believe that Season 11 was decent (Less than 30% of Rotten Tomatoes). Personally, I am with them, but I believe like other darker points in Doctor Who, it's just due to instability in writing and settling into new roles. Hopefully, everything will click together better next season (2020) and it will feel more fluid and less... Forced... It's like Christopher Eccleston's season 1, it was VERY hit and miss, but when it came down to season 2 with David Tennant, they knew what they wanted and what worked. Same again with Matt Smith's first season, he was clunky in season 5 but as Moffat settled so to did the idea of how Moffat wanted to write The Doctor. (Just a shame he wrote plots that went loopy. xD) All in all, I agree with Tripple Point. Season 11 doesn't deserve praise for what we come to Doctor Who for, the characters and sci fi.

PikaCinema Eh, scanning through the comments I find the main complaint on Season 11 is Chibnall. Yes some blame Jodie Whittaker (she has made a few daring comments, such as her comment regarding female heroes) but overall I think it’s the writing that left half the fan base upset or nervous. Ryan was used too much as a point and say character, Yaz acted too weak willed or childish to make it believable that she is a police officer of any kind, and The Doctor was morally askew with threatening to kill Ribbons, being ok with Ryan murdering the villain in Rosa and dropping heavy and frankly cruel information about her suspicions regarding Hannah’s dad’s life expectancy. While I see promise, and see the whole of season 11 as a teething season, where they are toying with what they can do and what works, you can’t deny the opinions of others, even the sexist twerps.

Doctor and gang of forgettable companions with no personalities land on a planet, stand around in a semi circle talking, go somewhere else, more talking, monster appears, they run away and stand in a semi circle and talk about the monster, the Doctor does a technobabble speech like she’s reading it off a cue card, they find out the monster is just maligned and misunderstood and they let it go to kill other people or leave it in a room to suffocate, Doctor pulls a David Tennant face. End credits.

@Samara Jordan In my estimation, Series 11 was the third best of the modern era, after Series 4 and Series 2. It's what I've been waiting for during the slog of the past 7.5 years. Modern Series ranked: 4>2>11>3>10>1>5>8>7>9>6 I loved that this season freed itself of the overarching season plot, which was not part of Old Who except for Colin Baker's year of the Trial. In its place was wonderful character development among the companions. That's why series 4 is my favorite: The "Doctor Donna" thing is hinted at with throwaway lines in a few episodes, but doesn't become important until "Turn Left"--it doesn't drive the plot of the season any more than Tim Shaw does this season. Doctor Who is finally getting good again.

Ok I like the thirteenth Doctor, she’s funny at some times, but she doesn’t really have the expectations to the other brilliant Doctors like Tennant, Eccloston, Smith and Capaldi. And why did he just started to bring back the old villains now, since we got a taste of what’s to come in the trailer from Doctor Who, ‘Resolution’ and it being leaked, why bring them back now? When he could’ve followed the traditional way in Doctor Who, Brake up some of the Old villains episodes with new ones, or something like that! I adored Whittaker's doctor and most of the episodes but I think this series is very lacky in one important thing: there was nothing really tiying the whole thing. It was a sucession of disconnected storylines. And not all of DW's episoes have been tied but each season has always had a main theme goin on.And that's why this series felt pointless to many.
