Fun fact. I met David Tennant on the set of a film. I didn't want to bother him about Doctor Who, but I had to ask him "What's it like having your Doctor as your father-in-law?" He was very polite and answered something along the lines of "Ye. A bit weird sometimes". He was a lovely guy. Even came and ate with the extras. Top bloke.

I ADORED S4. That moment when the doctor leaves at the end of the finale...I remember watching that in 2008 and fighting tears. It was so good.

On my last rewatch of season four I really did love their dynamic removed of any kind of will they won’t they tension. It really felt like Donna grew as a character from episode episode and both her and David gave amazing performances throughout this series. And in hind sight Martha got done rather dirty in Season 3.

I only watched New Who until Capaldi's first season, but this was easily my favorite season of them all. The season finale being a finale to all the previous seasons was incredible. And "Midnight" is an amazing episode- I truly feel it's as good as Blink as a standlone episode

I was watching films about narcissists then came here and suddenly realised, that's the modern Dr. I grew up with Dr Who, I guess 'mine' was Tom Baker but later in life I grew to appreciate Jon Pertwee (and actually met him once at a bird sanctuary in NZ oddly enough). I did watch the modern Who, definitely got this far, I remember these episodes. I think I lost interest some time towards the end of the Matt Smith era. Should probably go back to it at some point. Excellent review as always, thank you. Could you do Space 1999 some time!

I'm happy that you like River Song. This was the season where I said "Oh, I guess I like Dr. Who." And started watching on the regular. Absolutely adore Who. I've seen most now and with the exception of a few episodes New Who is vastly superior to original Who. To me anyway, I'm sure there are plenty of other opinions. Just because something is first doesn't make it best.

Series 4 is my favorite Series out of RTD's first era. There are a lot of stories I enjoyed, and my favorite story is The Stolen Earth and Journey's End. I remember when I first watched The Stolen Earth, I didn't know The General was played by Michael Brandon and I remember he was the U.S. Narrator for Thomas and Friends, but Michael Brandon is a good actor. I also enjoy Turn Left, Silence in the Library and Forest of the Dead, The Sontaran Stratagem and The Poison Sky, and The Fires of Pompei.

Donna Noble, best 10th companion. Fite meh! Turn Left is such a great What If? story. The family in Fires of Pompeii were endearing and I like how they were written like a modern family as part of a laugh, but also probably true as humanity really hasn't changed that much over the centuries. While I do like Silence In The Library/Forest Of The Dead as a great scary episode that usually gets Moffat the prize every season he's in, I really think Midnight beats it because the it ramps up the claustrophobia and paranoia in people and an enemy that isn't seen but definitely there. It drives strangers to become enemies and succumb to mob mentality, something that plays out way too often in real life. The two part finale is brilliant and a great send off for RTD's era. Bringing everyone back in a huge showdown was immensely satisfying and Donna did get to shine, albeit briefly. Such a fun season!

I loved Catherine Tate being in Dr Who because it slowed her down from making her truly dreadful “comedy” show. (The kind of lazy trash being sharted out by Little Britain albeit slightly more subtle about its punching down) Great actress though and probably good in this.

@Just-Plain-Potential Жыл бұрын
Alex is a great actress, but yeah...the revelations about who River is just make the build feel like it was for very little and I never really found much respect for the character after. Especially since Moffat clearly wanted us to see more of her body (not kidding. Just look up the trailer for S6 or that really unfortunate shot in "Let's Kill Hitler".)

There is no reason to watch your reviews. They are so spoiler heavy, that they ruin any hope of a subsequent virgin watch of whatever it is you are reviewing. But at the same time, if we've already seen the subject matter, then we don't need your review to entice us. So there's no reason to watch your reviews... Except that they're so damn fun! 😉

I always had idea of how to get Catherine Tate as the Doctor. They've previously alluded to that the doctor can choose his form, so he chooses to become Doctor Donna, because of guilt or something. There's a McGuffin that allows the Doctor to record their memories and right before Doctor Donna's run ends, they travel to OG Donna's death bed and gives OG Donna the memories from Doctor Donna's adventures.
@richmcgee434 Жыл бұрын
I would have been 100% okay with that turn of events. Let Actual Doc take a season or two off from a bad regeneration or something while Donna helms the show. Leave future writers with a huge block of time where there's no knowing what Doc was actually up to as well, which the show could use a lot more of.
