it was delightful to hear Peter Capaldi acknowledge the previous Doctors Eccelston, Tennant and Smith at how there performance as The Doctor aided in making Doctor Who even more amazing a series for all audiences worldwide. All the Doctors what a astonishing achievement and a awesome privilege to be in such a unique and creative long running series, just brilliant!

I was pretty disappointed with this season. Pretty much none of the stories really grabbed me other than the Missy arch. Missy was by far the best part. I think the problem is that for the most part Peter Capaldi did not really have a distinctive style that I liked. I do not think it is Peter's fault. When Peter had the right script he really put his stamp on the Doctor. I loved the Doctor from the Robin Hood eposide. He was able to make a cranky old man very lovable.
@Lythgoemania10 жыл бұрын
Ironically, I thought the Robin Hood episode was Peter's weakest performance since it felt like a Matt Smith script. Apart from that, he was excellent in every other scene he was in in this series. Fair enough, I guess.
@tcironbear2110 жыл бұрын
Robert Lythgoe As a fan of the 4th Doctor and New Who, I really like a Doctor with some quirkiness and comedic timing. The 12th Doctor just feels angry and angsty like a teenager in an old man's body. I think that is why I loved Missy so much.

@Chinaboatman10 жыл бұрын
Robert Lythgoe It says that she was the one sitting close to him... :P Hard for the others to engage with him when he's on the end. He does seem shy but then he isn't used to conventions and events like this, whereas the others are more accustomed to it. It must be really nerve-wracking doing something like this for the first few times. In truth, I know a lot of them consider functions like this, being themselves to an audience, much more intimidating than acting. Even as an actor (at least, as Danny Pink) he is quiet and softly-spoken.
@Lythgoemania10 жыл бұрын
Chinaboatman Yeah, this is the most likely explanation.
@Lythgoemania10 жыл бұрын
John David Considering Sam's story about the text message, I'm sure they get on fairly well. Plus they kind of knew each other before DW.
@davidjbrewer331310 жыл бұрын
Robert Lythgoe It was the text message moment, watching Jenna, that really sold how uncomfortable she is around him actually... its something I've felt watching the DW online extras and when they did the cinema showing in London, for a long time I've had a nagging feeling that despite them both being great actors one reason some people didn't buy into the relationship is that off screen its an awkward dynamic. I totally agree with Chinaboatman about nerves, but I just keep getting a gut feeling that something is sour in Jenna and Sam's past or has gone sour in filming, either that or she just doesn't like him. People can get on fine on a work level, have numbers and texts and calls, but it doesn't mean beyond surface level that they are all nice to each other.

I'm torn about this box set, on one hand I really want it because I enjoyed the season but on the other hand I noticed that it's probably the worst box set yet in terms of extras there is only 4 commentary tracks out of 12 episodes and no one on that stage bothered to do one. Why is it the box sets are getting progressively worse in terms of commentary tracks? Matt Smith only did 1 commentary track ever and the 50th doesn't have one either, the 50th anniversary special! I mean without commentary tracks you may as well just buy it on iTunes even though I can't do that because it's not on iTunes in New Zealand.
@DanteSolablood10 жыл бұрын
The BBC is wising up to re-selling the same content with added features. It's a sad fact that they'll sell all these series again in a few years time with a lot more commentaries & behind the scenes features that they _could_ have done the first time around. A lot of companies do this all the time, it just seems that the BBC is catching up.
@Kitamora10 жыл бұрын
What would not buying it do though? Reduced sales would make the BBC care even less about putting that effort in. It's a double-edged sword.
@DanteSolablood10 жыл бұрын
Danny Taylor I can see your point, but I don't think _effort_ is the issue here. It's more than likely that the BBC has a lot more additional content that it's sitting on for a second release of the DVDs. This is really common nowadays with boxsets. It's equivalent to on disk DLC, you've technically already bought it, but large corporations take a second purchase for added content for granted.

Well, you gave the answer: you can buy the box when you don't have it on itunes :o)

@tedbendell895910 жыл бұрын
The SINGLE well written character was Missy. The rest of the series felt like it was the product of Moffat's attempt to make Doctor Who for younger audiences and that was boring. It makes me sad because the most recent series of Sherlock is being repeated I am re-watching them. They are written brilliantly and I was surprised at Moffat with this series. Try watching 'here come the drums' for some better writing and less, what if the kids see this?
@Lythgoemania10 жыл бұрын
Ted Bendell Younger audiences? Are you sure? It was definitely a lot more adult. Dark Water in particular was aimed more at adults than children. I'm fine with people disliking this series, but saying it was aimed at kids is just wrong. I'm not trying to disrespect your opinion, but you are very wrong in that area.

Far from more "alien," I think the Doctor this season has been far too "human." One of the optimistic charms has been how the Doctor looks at humanity from the outside and instead of seeing what WE fear we would see, the Doctor sees potential, promise, delight, even wonder. But this time around... well, not so much wouldn't you say? Yes, here and there he said the proverbial 'you don't look like ants, you look like giants.' But actions speak louder than words, and even his words about humanity turned very harsh and negative. Less human, more alien please.

@TheArg1710 жыл бұрын
If by curvy you mean chubby, Catherine Tate wasn't exactly thin when she was in Doctor Who. But also most of the companions are meant to be quite young, and on an average English girls aren't very chubby at that age, in fact many of them are very skinny. So, you know, realism.

Am I one of the few fans who wished this series 8 episodes were worth watching, but was sorely disappointed? Just because we love the story/series of Doctor Who doesn't mean that every actor chosen to play him can carry it off. Peter Capaldi is one who not only can't carry the part but is actually ruining the series, boring, hard to understand, long winded and uninteresting, I don't find anything worth making me care or like about his version of the Doctor! I was completely uninterested in any of the story's and found nothing of interest in any of the characters. Story lines sucked and the actors were entirely one dimensional, not one had anything for me to care about them! BIGGEST let down since the series was revived! Will give the Christmas episode a chance before writing the series of as a lost cause but not holding out much hope. I for one will not be buying any series 8 merchandise mainly because I don't care for the series which has been ruined by Peter and the writers. Feels like losing a member of my family, so sad that it has to end like this.
