What’s funny about Paul McGann being in this, is that he already knew he was going to be doing “Night” but he had to keep it a secret from the others, so it’s kind of awkward watching it back knowing that. The “filming commitments” line is unintentionally accurate.

I dont know if it plays now, but John Barrowman is a very postive 'out' gay celebrity, so the joke was 'outing' him has being secretly straight with a wife and kids which is a satirical inversion of what previously happened with actors the other way round.

One change I would make to this would be when they’re in the hospitality suite and McCoy says “it’s probably for tv, not like it’s a motion picture” I’d have gotten McGann to say off screen “I WAS in a motion picture!” and McCoy responds “yes... I was in that one as well”.

@@richardlemin7840 Yep. Honor and Diana. Both very classy ladies. Honor's time was black and white, so was Diana's first season. My first enduring memory of Honor was, also, my first sight of Anneke Wills, who was with Pat in Doctor Who. An episode of The Avengers with a costume party on a train called 'Dressed To Kill' Before Honor, the main characters were John Steed and Dr. David Keel, respectively Patrick MacNee and Ian Hendry. This, however, predates my own memory of the series. We had repeats a few years back and a handy companion book now gives me the details missing from my own memory files!

On a sad note, the Doctor Who experience shut down a few years ago. When I went, it had 11's first Tardis, 5's Tardis, and 10's. They also updated it afterwards so that it had stuff from 12. But you should still visit Cardiff, in particular the Bay, as you'll recognise a whole load of shooting locations from Doctor Who, Torchwood, and even The Sarah Jane Adventures. There's even a shrine, as I'm sure others have told you, initially for Ianto, then more for the show as a whole, and the fallen of Torchwood 3. Your dad is right about Peter Jackson. In fact, he's previously stated that he wants to direct for the show, and with no fee, just as long as the BBC give him a Dalek.

The colour recon is based on publicity and set shots while the black and white is based on contemporary 'telesnaps' off-air screen shots. Although the colour version is obviously better looking it has far fewer images to play with so can be a bit repetitive. The black and white version was actually produced after the colour as the telesnaps were only discovered some years later. I've watched both and prefer the b&w for its greater variety. It's definitely worth looking at the colour, however, to see the impressive costumes and sets that were reckoned to be among the best of the early years--presumably building on the BBC's existing expertise (and resources) in producing historical stories.

One of the big reasons why there are missing episodes is the cost of the tapes. They were re-used. It wasn't just the cost that b&w remained for such a long time but colour tv's were seriuosly expensive. In fact a large part of the population, including my household, hired their tv's. Even when in 1970 Doctor Who was in colour I never got to see anything in color till the late 1970s when got our first colour tv.

12:07 - There is a subtle joke there, that TVTropes has pointed out there, where the supposed "fat" Doctor (No offense to Colin) is the only one not exhausted after running. And it's implying that that is because he did I'm A Celebrity on TV and is used to doing things like that now. Maybe some of you caught on to it, maybe some you didn't, but I thought it would be fun to point out. Also, I have to correct you, but it wasn't "The Voice of Tom Baker". Davison tried to contact him, but he didn't reply back, so they picked that scene from The Five Doctors to make up for it and then got impressionist Jon Culshaw to imitate Tom's voice for the phone message.

The missing episodes are better as narrated audio then Loose Canon reconstructions. If you have reacted to Big Finish then you could react to those with maybe the photo reconstruction on top of that for us to see. If you are going to react to the photo reconstructions then I do suggest the Black And White photo reconstruction of Marco Polo as the Black And White photo reconstructions we’re made later and actually have photos from the episode itself as telesnaps (Google what Telesnaps are) instead of production photos

This has actors across the shows 50 year history with a story that focuses both on new and classic Doctor Who. Day of the Doctor is good but it isn’t the best celebration of Doctor Who’s history.
