I think series 2 of 9DA is intentionally doing a class conscious theme as a story arc. "Station to Station" and "Break the Ice" both deal with god-like monsters that The Doctor can only deal with. The latter story also sees Jack Frost more interested in subjugating The Doctor due to the latter being a Time Lord. And in "Auld Lang Syne" The Doctor, as a Time Lord, is the catalyst for the time ship to be going weird. Series 2 is playing with the fact that 9 looks and tries to act like another person that you could meet walking down the street, but really may never be able to truly reach that point due to who he is. Edit: Now that I thought about it, that's a central part of "Salvation Nine." To the point that the name of the story is on the nose.
