Also, forgot to ask, what do you think about the upcoming release of a proper 5" Regeneration 11th & 12th Doctor, with Old man 11 head? I think it's fantastic that character is going back to the 5" figures. Also been hearing rumors of a proper 5" Clara figure as well.

I actually have one and wear it everyday. To me it's kind of cool to have a Vortex Manipulator to wear like Jack Harkness. Yes the build quality is poor but it's nice to have a cheap, replaceable "kick around" to wear out rather than an expensive, precious replica. The molded edges are coming off around the corners revealing that, yes, the faux leather is covering a core made of something akin to cardboard. Funnily, the stitching keeps this from wearing too far and looking too out of place. It kind of gives it a broken in look and of course breaking in the unit has given it a cool kind of curve to the backing. Overall the material doesn't really phase me and doesn't irritate my skin much at all, although the color has come off the rivets on the under side of the watch band. For me, my only nitpicks are of course the size of the plastic unit and the size of the Vortex as a whole. The proportions are just off, not enough to make a difference to the casual fan but enough to bug me. I also wish the "grill" portion where the LCD screen is looked more like a grill on the concept image in your review. Also the inside of the cover is the wrong color of black not tan. The main nitpick is that I would have liked the Vortex Manipulator Teleport sound from Series 5 as well. Perhaps the activation button could activate the teleport sound with a single tap and then activate the longer time travel noise when held for a few seconds. Is it the best product possilbe? Not really. It serves its purpose. It tells the time, makes lights and noises, I feel like Captain Jack, and alerts true Whovians that you are one of them. (I say true Whovians because I've had lots of casual Doctor Who fans question what this is!) I loved the review though! I'm actually one of the few who preordered this and waited a year! That was a tad excessive, but I wasn't expecting much from this product. If it were a replica, I'd set my standards sky high but with something like this, I knew to set just a few ground rules and when I do that, I'm pretty easy to please. As for the few who say you're judging too harsh, you're really not. It's your opinion, like this is mine, on the product. I mean you do concede that it IS a Vortex Manipulator, so you're not smashing it into pieces. It serves purpose with the watch and sounds, so it's not pointless like the wind-up Dalek. It's a so-so product that could have been more but it turned out to be slightly less. It's so on the fence it really is up to personal opinion how good or bad it is.

I kinda agree with Daniel Watts down there, this seems more appealing than how you make it out to be. I found his point about comparing something like this to a prop replica interesting. Extremely different fields of merchandise making comparisons seem a bit overkill. Like, I'm passive about the Sonic Screwdriver kit as it's just a cheap little thing for people looking at the desktop toys near the checkout at the bookstore, not something to be likened to the toys Character or the stuff the Wand Company and the like make. Yes, they're bad, but I hardly find that to be too upsetting.

+Daniel Watts +Andrewnuva199 At no point in this video do I compare the watch to the prop detail wise. The only comparison in this video is for scale purposes, so you can get an idea of what size the watch, toy and replica are in relation to each other. I naturally expect there to be a dip in quality between a screen used prop and a childs toy, but not by this much. As I said in the video even for a kids toy this is weak, the quality is way too poor and it will wear down easily. So again, Im not expecting grade A material, but something better than this. It feels far too cheap and half baked.

Im not saying it doesn't make sense, I like the idea. My issue is that the screen is far too small. And I didn't complain about the sound effects, In the video I said I actually like them and their accuracy to the show. Its the rest of it that lets it all down though.

Right now i am working on A 1-1 scale prop replica of the vorrex manipulator and im going to buy this beacuse of the light and sound feature. I will then strip it down and install the electronics onto my custom 3D printed control panal.

the vortex manipulator ldc watch is leather. its small because its a watch you cant have a watch the prop size and. the watch looks bad in the inside because its not for acting but if your a kid its will be fun to play with even if its bad to you but its actually good for doctor whoviens so i would get it

Its just... no. Its not leather. Seriously. You can smell leather, you know by the feel of it. This is anything but real leather, at best its a cheap amalgamation. Im not asking for a replica - sized watch of course, im asking that the screen be a bit bigger, so kids dont ruin their eyes when trying to tell the time. And its not for acting, its for playing with, so it should look better on the inside, as kids will be playing with it and will see the control panel more than the viewers will see it when watching it on TV.
