I originally spent around 15 minutes interviewing the competitors, but didn't end up keeping that because it felt quite slow in the beginning. In the future I might keep the idea but use very short interviews to present the contestants!

The worst mistake to make in this challenge is to not go to make a diamond pickaxe. When the meteorite landed, there is a chance that ancient debris spawn there, so grab enough of them and you can make netherite armor, which is very good against fire and blast damage, the damage the metorites deal. Grabbing the obsidian is also essential. You can mine underground and cover yourself in a few layers of them with a narrow entrance. That way, the meteorites willl never hit you, and the narrow entrance means any intruder will get spot and will have a hard time getting in.
