Anesthesia awareness has to be the most scary thing ever. Rare, but it does happen. THERE'S a book that I think has gone out of print so it may be hard to find, called Silenced Screams. It's written by a woman who experienced this nightmare herself. The trauma it left her with is just downright unimaginably horrifying. I have not had the chance to read it yet as my print copy hasn't been scanned, but it's on my to-do list.

A few months ago I caused a car accident and a man attempted to sue me for 10 million dollars because he got a doctor to say that he would suffer "chronic neck pain" for the rest of his life, this despite the fact his car was barely side swiped. Fortunately my car insurance company settled it out of court and so I won't be in debt for the rest of my life to some scum bag.
@ZombifiedBuizel Жыл бұрын
My friend was in a car accident. Someone sideswiped him at a stoplight. He had the right of way (he was the only one at the intersection) and as he was pulling up to turn someone hit him on his side tire. The insurance company was yelling at him to be careful and not the idiot who hit him. He was being careful. He can't anticipate the actions of someone who wasn't there as he was turning. He said he felt alittle sore but nothing serious.

The best beside manner I ever received was from an urgent care doctor. I was in there as a teenager for swallowing something I wasn’t supposed to (rather not get specific). It was INCREDIBLY OBVIOUS that I was embarrassed and uncomfortable. The doctor came right out and said “Don’t worry, I’ve seen much worse”. He went on to tell me stories of patients he had seen (unnamed obviously) who had swallowed things like razor blades or tongue barbells. He also spoke to me COMPLETELY without judgement and was very professional and calm throughout the whole thing! I was still so embarrassed, but didn’t feel nearly as stupid as I did before. 10/10, would see again doctor 👍🏻

There's was this one time when I got my wisdom teeth pulled, the oral surgeon actually had to stop the procedure and turned the gas down, but not off, so that I would wake up, but I was still under the effects of various other numbing agents. He did this because I was moaning so loud in my unconscious state that I was scaring a small child in the waiting room. The surgeon then said "we're going to continue the surgery, but we're not going to knock you out with the gas again. Please try not to scream."

@5:01, like I require more anesthetic than normal if I have to be put out: both because I'm a redhead AND based on past experience, it's HIGHLY recommended to put me out for surgery when needed. For example, I was NOT a happy camper when I woke up I'm the middle of the night after my jaw had to be reset after an accident: I ACTUALLY removed my HR monitor and IV and tried to escape from the hospital. I had to be sedated to get me to go back to sleep. Another time, I had to get my wisdom teeth removed after they came in sideways. I had quite the potty mouth during post-op. However, I made sure to say "you MIGHT wanna use more anesthetic, like 29% more". I had to have robotic surgery on my right kidney to repair a congenital defect: surgery and post-op both went PERFECTLY.

Oh wow, it's been my dream to see a real doctor react to the hilarious malpractices of Dr Nick, with his iconic: "Hi Everybody!" Homer wanted the crayon in his brain because he previously had it all this time: When he was six years old he shoved 15 crayons up his nose and sneezed out 14, so throughout his life he had a crayon in his brain which accounted for his "sub-normal intelligence." After it was removed in the episode he improves his IQ dramatically and bonds with Lisa. However he is sad to discover the harsh reality that America can a cruel place for intelligent people. He decides he can't handle it and wants the crayon back, hence when he asked Moe to "turn me into the blissful boob I was!" I agree, retro Simpsons were excellent, I'm a big fan of the classic episodes. The new ones are a sad memory of what once was. Please do more of these, this made my day. 👍👍👍
