For the Newbie if you are actually trading in the crypto space and you don't have a sound mentor. Then you are certainly going to get liquidated in 90% of your trades. Yeah that's sad truth. That’s crazy. The most well paid doctors in Sweden get about 180-200k BEFORE tax. And it’s a well known fact taxes are pretty hefty here, especially if you’re a high wage earner

On a serious note, I am pleasantly surprised to see these doctors be so open about their pay. Actually makes us general public trust you guys more. It might SEEM like wallstreet(or investment) people don't contribtue anything, but they help EVERY single other industry. The stock market is a fund distribution system. It funnels funds from savings, where they don't do anything to investments(i.e actually using the money to make something), which leads to increase in EVERY single other industry's productivity and supply. Its how every company gets the funds to actually work and do something. Without it, we would see SO many less companies, since in order to make one you would have to be profitable from the start or have a insane amount of money already with you.

Workers that do not have a thing that has market demmand are just replaceable. I live in a 3rd world where the minimum wage is 1.5$/hr. We have higher taxes than most country's, our products are more expensive and the public services are mediocre, but the economy rules are the same. If the economy says that's your price, so it is. Doctors have good income all over the world because they have unique skills, their job is hard and demanded. Can you say that about an Uber driver? Acknowledging the fact that people already receive what they deserve (doesn't matter if it's morally wrong, such as a rich corrupt politician) doesn't make you a bad person, just a realistic one.

Even with what I do, the pay isn’t that great. I’m not in the medical field myself. I do respite and habilitation care for kids with special needs. Some of us do similar work to that if a CNA but in a home setting. Our pay doesn’t always reflect our skills. We do what we do because we love our work and the kids we work with.

Because pediatricians are a dime a dozen. They’d be paid more had they chosen a different specialty that wasn’t so popular. Like try finding a neurologist who specializes in multiple sclerosis. They are hard to find, so they get paid more. And most times patients have to travel long distances just to get care for whatever disease they have. But pediactrics is a popular field to practice in. Also I believe the system does value pediatricians and kids. Thankfully pediatricians are everywhere, if kids need treatment. Those who chose to be a pediatrician knew the pay disparity. As they said, they do it to help kids, not for the pay. If anything, the healthcare system does not value adults who are sick with incurable diseases who live in chronic pain.

@@Dee--No. The hospitals only pay for their own malpractice insurance. The doctors are required to carry their individual insurance (it was $1 million before I retired as staff secretary, so I am sure it’s more now).

@@Dee-- I was taught that hospital provided insurance is serving the hospital above all else. So they could chose to drop you like a hot potatoes if they chose to do so. If you don’t have your own insurance (that represents you) you could be left high and dry.

I think people forget that they also have to have huge insurance covers, probably hundreds of thousands in student loan debt, and be prepared for lawsuits if a patient complains about not getting what they want for treatment. It's the same with lawyers too. You are working with people's lives with very sensitive situations and people can utterly screw you over if they don't like you. I work in mental health and with teens and thankfully I have good rapport with my clients and everything, but we meet behind closed doors and if they DIDN'T like me, they could easily make up something to get me fired or in trouble, if they didn't like the outcome of our counseling session. Evil people are out there and it just takes one person on a bad day to destroy your entire livelihood. Helping professions can often pay well but the higher the pay day the higher the risk of getting screwed over. That's why I like my comfortable salary that was enough to pay off my student loans over a decade and start saving for a house and living in a decent apartment in a safe neighborhood for the time being.

Consider this: despite all these rates for doctors, majority of what the patient pays goes to marketing division, senior management and CEO bonuses, shareholders dividends, lawyers and many middlemen, insurance and kickbacks programs. In the end, not much actually goes to the doctors, nurses and medical drugs and equipment.

My dad is a urologist and my mom is a retired family physician. Idk which makes more but 100% my dads work life balance barely exists. He comes home late with food from his office and usually like an hour later is called back in. A lot of the time he is called out in the middle of the night to do surgery and I feel so bad for him.

My dad and his brother were in a private practice as surgeons together. The sacrifices they made were real. Middle of the night phone calls, going from 0-100 to get the hospital for emergency surgeries, and very long days. However, I was always proud of my dad-not because of his salary-in fact, he accepted barters occasionally-but because he was helping people. So, do the things you are good at and love, but do it to help people.

So great to see some specialist and a couple PCP salary / per hour income. Docs are notorious for not telling pre-meds, med students or residents how much they actually make. Also, it's glaring the discrepancy between specialist and PCPs.

Agreed, although I think it is worth noting that specialists also have to do more training in the way of fellowships, which is something to note. But it is also worth noting that where you live makes a huge difference. Rural EM for instance is much more lucrative than an urban EM physician.

These numbers vary vastly by region, hospital system, and how long you've practiced. A specialty endocrinologist I worked with who did pediatric to adult transfer of care for complex adrenal disease made less than a new grad Nurse Practitioner at the hospital we both worked. She went elsewhere (within the same state, just a different hospital system) and got a 135k salary increase for maintaining and doing the same job. Don't go into medicine for money. The strife, hardwork, and sacrifices made in school and than later in life while in practice cannot be fueled by money (or potential to make it). If you're passionate about the field and a specific path, don't let not making 300+ put you off exploring it.

​@@dragonrings14 You're right, it is relative. Not sure about America, but where I live student debt for doctors is significantly more than other careers. Average degree here is three years, but six for doctors. Our first (soon to be last) year is fully subsidised, so that's two years of uni vs five. However, many people don't get into med school the first time so they have to finish your degree (you do one year of a specific degree then apply to med school) so that they can apply through postgraduate entry which takes another two years (three to four if you decide to do an entirely different degree just in case you don't get in a second time). On top of that, the fee per year is higher for med school. Much of three of those years is spent in hospitals which you don't get paid for yet no one has energy to work, but they still have to cover living costs while they're there. Usually that will mean more student loans. Our student loans are way less than America and we don't have interest, but as Mama Jones painfully highlighted, doctor salaries are less than half of the salaries in the States (I'd take the US' higher student loans any day). So you're right. It is relative. Fot the work that doctors do and high skills they need to have, it's worth every cent.

When looking at those salaries, we also have to figure in huge taxes, paying back insane school loans, ridiculously high malpractice insurance, etc. When someone has invested that must of their lives into their education and having that level of responsibility on them every day, they have more than earned every penny. If there was not financial stability and ability to pay the cost for that long education, while having the stress and responsibility for people's lives in your hands, no one would bother going into medicine so it better be somewhat lucrative.

The information given by the podiatry lady is misleading. There is no way a podiatrist makes more money than a Family Medicine doctor(salary-based). Podiatrists are not Doctors of Medicine like pediatrics, oncology, internist, GI, anesthesiology, etc,they are Doctors of Podiatry, which is a lower level than doctors of Medicine, similar to optometrist, chiropractic etc.

I remember my doctor when I was a kid, rest his soul, never charged my family a penny for all of my brothers issues. They are definitely not middle class doctors. In American you are starting to see the erosion of what it means to be the middle class. With the rampant inflation in the US everyone’s purchasing power is drastically reducing. For example grocery shopping in some regions increased by 20 or so percent. So if you don’t get a 20 percent promotion or earn 20 percent more income you are losing money every year. Something similar could be said with other categories like housing, rent, gas, cost of goods, etc. So to what you said, that definition is what it used to mean, but as prices continue to go up, this is become less and less true unless they start shifting the income ranges for the middle class

It also depends upon how much they have to pay back in student loans. A doctor can easily go $500-750k in debt for their education. Doctors here in Europe pay nothing or very little for tuition. They still earn high salaries, but they don't have the debt. And the middle class in the US has been eroding at a very fast rate. Due to inflation and increasing cost of housing, people need to earn more and more to remain middle class. Look up "the amount of money need to live comfortably". It's lists how much you need in each state to live comfortably. The amount is WAY over the average salary.

Being a Doctor is the only job where I feel the high pay is justified. Getting very high pay is justified for what they do. I have always been mad at the pay rates for CEO's and other jobs that are 100's of times higher than the average person. Being paid a wage where you can focus on your job and not have to worry about buying groceries, or affording a car is great. I hope it continues to match inflation. I don't want my health care provider to be thinking about money when they are treating me. I would prefer they lived stress free and easy life so they can help me better.

The fact that New Zealand pays trained professionals of many fields (especially in healthcare) so low in comparison to Aussie and the US is the reason why we have a "brain drain" problem here. people will get their qualifications then move to other countries, usually Aussie, to earn better money in places that have a better cost of living. Our government has tried to stop this by introducing one year free of uni and interest-free student loans as long as you stay in the country but it hasn't done much. I'm going to graduate uni this year and my partner became qualified in his trade a few months ago, looking at the money we'd collectively make over the ditch in comparison to NZ is insane! It's a no-brainer when you could more than triple your income in an instant.

Boundary, shipping and scaling problems limit the effectiveness of any person in most smaller economies. Estonia and other outskirt European economies, for example, while developed, simply have no choice but to whittle into Poland or Germany. The mid-developed Caribbean is on a steady road to nonexistence. I'm not saying NZ is acting optimally, but there is a point at which even optimal action cannot solve this problem.
