It’s really a lifelong process. I think that happiness depends, not on what you have accomplished, but on what you are trying to accomplish. I also believe that happiness is built on gratitude for what you have learned, good or seemingly bad, from just living out what God has put into your life and having merely survived at times! I recently started having panic attacks due to my issues with anxiety. Can you make a video about anxiety? Maybe ways to help when you’re alone and having a panic attack? I don’t go to see a doctor for a while, and I don’t think I need to see one urgently because panic attacks are a normal thing. But some tips would be great! You don’t have to if you don’t want to. do you mean it is a regular occurrence vs normal thing? regardless, if you are having panic attacks either once in awhile or on a regular or semi-regular basis, you should see a doctor and/or therapist. some people have them very rarely. some people have them occasionally and then it becomes more frequent, and for some they can become so frequent that they become debilitating. you could have triggers that you are unaware of that a doctor or mental healthcare professional can help you identify and help you learn how to cope with having panic attacks and possibly lessen the severity and/or duration of them.

Dr. Mike, I just wanna say thank you for being here and being that positive doctor that all practitioners in all specialties should aspire to be. I have been with nurses and doctors who don't care and avoid the patient at all cost. As the patient, caretaker, CNA, and now in health insurance, I wish I could give you and physicians like yourself a medal of honor for everything that you have to work with and do for the patients.

I also love educating med students and residents, but as a patient with a complex case. I've worked with so many residents over the years, but my favorite resident so far was my previous PCP. He fostered a wonderful dialogue between us and treated me as a team member when it came to my care. Collaborative patient care will always be my main focus as a patient advocate, and his execution of it was exemplary!

We need more doctors like you!! It is wonderful your training too. As someone who has a chronic illness, doctors like you are the ones I treasure. Too many doctors don't take the time to really listen to patients.

Dr. Mike; I love that you are so focused on patient and family centered care! 💕 I have written numerous journal articles on the importance of patient and family centered care, and integrated interdisciplinary professionals. This includes, medical specialists, mental health professionals, the pt’s personal treatment team and social support networks, etc). I truly wish my healthcare providers were onboard with such a collaborative, and holistic approach! It really is more beneficial for everyone involved, patients not only do better physically and mentally but their families feel more empowered and educated and patients feel more validated and in control of their own care and future! THANK YOU! 🙏 💕

I'm glad you discuss with the patient bc as a chronically ill person I didn't get that a lot growing up. I was a scared kid in a lot of pain and I had lots of doctors who just wouldn't listen to me and brushed aside my opinions and concerns and still do even now as an adult. I've lived with these things for a long time so it's great when doctors recognise that and discuss instead of assuming.

I honestly can’t believe I’m considering med school even though it’s been years since I graduated college because of the amazing things you share every week. I just find it amazing that you save people’s lives while doing something you love. After my father died, I sort of lost my trust in doctors but you completely turned that around. So thank you! And thank you to all the healthcare workers who continuously risk their lives to save others ❤️

I did the same. Finished my undergrad and worked for 6 years before starting medical school so I am 33 in 3rd year and not that this is the case for all, but being a little more experienced in life has made a big difference for me. Good luck with your applications and starting back in school!

You helped motivate me to go after my real dream- nursing. My passion is working with the pediatric population as a WOC nurse. I have Crohn's disease myself as well as an ileostomy. Providing education for patients and erasing the stigma is something that I'm passionate about.

Your videos give me so much hope that there are good doctors out there! I’ve struggled with Lyme disease for most of my life and it affects my joints, anxiety, and immunity. My pediatrician (I’m 17) does not recognize Lyme as a problem. She listened to the same symptoms year after year and told me to go to a specialist (which I can’t afford). She wouldn’t help me find treatment or discuss my options for relief. During one appointment I was told I would not be seen at the office if I didn’t get a this vaccine (not required for anything else) right away (I was having an immunity issue at the time and sometimes react negatively to immunizations) I gave in and had flu like symptoms for the next few days. It ruined my immunity and I spent 1 whole month sick (stomach bug, COVID, ear infection, ruptured eardrum, then a cold) I missed out on work and Christmas. I left the office after that. All doctors I’ve seen up until this point have been close minded and would wait for my health to get bad rather than preventing problems. I found out that all I needed to do was avoid gluten and take a few supplements to keep my Lyme at bay. I just started visiting a smaller local office that has been a godsend. We explored what was making me feel bad, the discoveries over made about my health, and options for treatment. She recommended we get a few tests to do and things that might help me feel better in the mean time. I cried after I left my first appointment because I was so relieved and felt so comfortable and cared for. I now look forward to my doctor appointments and feel a million times better with my health. It’s because of doctors like you that my health is in good hands :) Thank you for your good work. You are the true heroes!
