And in the 90s and early 2000s, they were dirt cheap compared to today. I paid $300 for mine in 1998. Still have it. Never dreamed it would be worth more than what I paid back when I got it. Didn't care either. It was my teenage dream synth from the early 80s. I got lucky finding it and I wasn't the first to look at it. Guy had even cropped the price because nobody wanted it. Have times changed!!

Yep, Jupiters, Junos, JXs, they all went for pennies on the dollar back in the 90s as everyone was bailing for the latest digital wunderkind. Wish I'd had the presence of mind to grab a 106 and a jx-8p back then. :( Fortunately there are some crackerjack programmers out there writing VSTs that are scary-accurate mimics of the classics, so we mere mortals who can't spend more on a keyboard than we did on our cars have an outlet for our old-synth angst! :D

This sounds so nice! Roland should make a new authentic analog reissue of the Jupiter 8. The all-digital Jupiter X isn't the answer (because it's a digital emulation). The Jupiter 8 has real VCOs and real analog filters. That's why it sounds so warm and rich.
@saricubra28673 ай бұрын
You have TAL J8 and Roland Cloud Jupiter 8 V2. TAL J8 is more accurate because of the dual mode and split, Roland's own vst lacks both stuff. For sound quality, both are flawless but TAL has more tweaking options.

@saricubra2867 Oh, okay. Yeah, I've heard Arturia makes great software synths. I have a couple of their hardware flagship analog synths and they're great. I can only imagine their software is probably superb, given they were a software company first before they started make hardware. I'm going to search online and take a look at their Jupiter emulation VST. JUP 8 V4? Cool! Thanks!

The price tag on these has reached a super ridiculous level. And yes, it has a very good and clean sound but I wouldn’t call it overly fat. Buy an OBX8 and you get fat. Even the Juno-60 can sound fatter in comparison thanks to its suboscillator and legendary built-in chorus.

Bought my first in 2001 for £1200. A very creamy, dark sounding 12 bit version. Then abit later I got a 14 bit which was alot brighter sounding for £3000. Ultimately I sold them both because I could not afford to maintain them. Cost more to service than a car back then. Beautiful sounding synth...but you not for the faint hearted and you need very deep pockets to repair.
