You know this guy has given his life to his craft when he doesn't even need to listen to the sound he is designing, he just twists knobs and flips switches being able to hear what each is doing to the sound in his head and the end result is pretty close to what he imagined it would sound like. It's like when you can hear what a sound is going to sound like after you EQ it without actually having to do the moves with the sound playing and when you can play it, its pretty close to where you want it.

I wonder why there aren't more videos of you synth masters from the original albums sharing how you created the sounds of the 80s songs. There must be thousands of musicians who would love to know how Madonna's 80s synth sounds were created, for example. I find it so entertaining and just plain fun. Thank you Mr. Marinelli for allowing us to get into a time machine and taking us back into the studio with you. I see so many forums where musicians want to know which synthesizer was used for a particular song and all we can do is take a guess.

A Minimoog is a very simple instrument control-wise, but sounds so good. You just know Anthony knows the Mini inside and out when he blindly dials in the settings of the chorus call back riff and it sounds spot-on! That is synth patch programming at it's best.

Maybe it is because he is methodical about it and applies logic to his sound creation. As can be seen in how he explains his sound creation procedure in this video, for him it was and has been a step by step process knowing the properties of each part of the synthesizer and then using it to build sounds.

They did stack synths on top of synths but not just to make a wall of sound, every layer done with a purpose. That's what makes the difference between an okay arrangement and a great arrangement. These videos are a gold mine of knowledge that wasn't available just a couple of years ago.

This is incredible, I subscribed to this channel the minute I saw the video about the 'Thriller' reconstruction. Although I studied Jazz Guitar in Antwerp, I became obsessed with the synthesizers, and wanted to reconstruct these sounds with the Arturia softsynths as well (still have no clue of how synthesizers work by the way 😅). A few months later my jaws dropped when mr Anthony Marinelli began to explain the actual process of the way he programmed the beats and sounds. So I send an email to Doctor Mix to point that out, and to my surprise Claudio was so kind to answer. Such a great and down to earth person. And now these two are actually sitting in a room, discussing music and passing their knowledge. I just love how both of them are into their craft and willing to educate each and everyone of us with that level of passion.

You just have to know when your able to work with their limitations or try another synth. Love it. This guy is showing us how to produce. This info is invaluable.
