I've used Nexus for years and have always loved the usability of the patches. I own Omnisphere and Avenger 2 but I find myself browsing forever for the perfect sounds. So Nexus always delivers, and now it's so powerful, I think it's time I sold my Omnisphere licence. And as for Avenger, it's far too complicated. This seems to be much easier.

I say keep them all. Omnisphere is a very powerful tool and it has an amazing library. Avenger is still one of the best workstation synths, up there with Falcon, Pigments and Halion.

You know, Nexus is almost like KORG Triton was back in the day. There is always a sound in there somewhere that "just fits" right out of the box. Sometimes that is all you need to get that final "oomph" in your track.

I have Avenger 2. Is this much different and how do you write your own songs to avoid it sounding like a preset pack. If 2 people use the same backing or elements in this, is it fine to release? I have soooo many questions.

Single shot presets should generally be fine, just think about all the stock synth patches in music history making their way into timeless hits! (Yamaha bell and FM piano, etc...) Anything with a sequence ("backing element" as you call it), modify it and make it your own. [Not legal advice!]

[Not legal advice.] Usually, it is almost like loops, there is always a chance to get into some dispute or content ID copyright claims, so the best course of action is to alter anything with a melody or sequence. Even if you do not get sued, some platforms would block or flag your music with stock sequences. Be original and have fun!

You know, that is not a bad idea, but it is a synth workstation, not so much an arranger. I would say you can create your own variations and trigger them in any DAW that supports clip view. You can use any cheap pad controller for this. I guess it is possible now that you can edit your presets.

I think this is an awesome update. But i cant afford the expansions which sucks because what comes with it is kind of bland. There are some good sounds. But if they would do 20 a pack that would make my life so much less hectic lol. Spending twenty at a time for the expansions you want is easier then 60 which they normally are. I think more people would jump back on with this great update. If the expansions were more affordable Also. I cant find how to change skins. Is that no longer an option

Wait for the end of year sale, and buy multiple packs together for a discount. There is no pack that MUST be purchased immediately. This gives you a year to prioritize and cool off and research and listen to samples, and have your list ready at the end of the year. I definitely contribute to the decreased profits of many vendors. Some of them, I do not even click on their site until end of year sales, and with others, every few years I get a discounted upgrade discount. NOTHING is worth buying IMMEDIATELY.

Ur not wrong. But that 20 dollar price is an attractive number. Just saying. I think now that it is a true synth and no longer a rompler people will flock to it again. And if they had lower prices more people would buy more. When i see 20 dollars its almost a guarantee imma buy it. When i see 60. Its more of a i have to really think about it before i commit. I wish Avenger was sold as a giant all-in-one bundle as well. Until recently, their packs were $47 the cheapest, and finally this year they started having sales with $30 expansions. So with their 100+ packs, that is $3,000 the cheapest. However, it does feel like those packs have more value and diversity. It all depends on what you are looking for.

I guess the way they look at it is playing two presets side by side is basically just double ROMpling. However, since each preset may be multiple layers, I was able to simply copy the layers from one preset into the other side by side in the LAY tab. Yes, from different banks. (You can have up to 16 layers, so if you have two patches of 11 layers each, you cannot do all the layers combined.) However, since these layers go through the same Main FX stack in Routing, the final sound will be different than as if you played two patches simultaneously, which would each have different Main FX. Maybe they figure if you want two patches played back without alteration, you might as well just put them in separate Nexus instances. They may add this feature in the future when you can just basically turn it into a MULTI.

I can't believe that they now allow us to use the full sound design system. This is something other than Nexus. I guess the only thing they have left to do is implement surround sound/multi channel and maybe atmos. Wow. And I've only just released it has already been released.

Guys I love NEXUS and AVENGER and I have been using them for many years, but the fact each new version almost forces you to buy it to be able to buy new exansions is very annoying. I am currently watching the videos about the new exapansions and, as expected, "compatible with N5 only"... Sometimes we don't need the new features, just the presets, but we can't buy new expansions anymore if we haven't upgraded. It would be ok if upgrades were released every 5 years but I feel it's almost every two years we need to upgrade, that's too much I would say. Don't know if other users will agree?

Everything vps avenger can do is more elite and has more features all under 500. They even gave us free update to a new version free. The packs are 6 for 200. So fair. So yes you are right. 4k+++ is just greedy beyond belief. I'd throw in 400 for more avenger packs at that price. Inwoild buy this if it was under 1k with 4-5 free.packs.

No, I think a large number of people expect it to sound the exact same as the previous versions (it would be an unwelcome surprise if after upgrading their existing sounds in their projects suddenly sounded different). What they do expect is that it CAN sound different and better after being able to change those tired old sounds or create new ones.

@AdamElteto Something also expected is just better stability, performance & functions, I'll be using it on Mac as a first time Mac user & I'm expecting the experience to be super smooth compared to my windows machine, As for sounds they literally said they added 1177 new presets so that should be interesting.

@@JayfkProductions876 Usually personal experiences with music production tech add up to only anecdotes, as what works for one person with a certain setup may not work for others, but I use both platforms, and so far things are looking good on both. It feels fast and responsive and good on the resources and presets load quickly. The editing functions are pretty snappy, too. I am getting some Pigments vibes. (Pigments vibes are good!) Some SynthMaster feeling, too. The only thing I hit some glitches on was that sometimes the cloud download manager stops (not freezes, just stops downloading), and I have to restart and log back into my account to restart download. I wish it had better download resume flexibility. This does not affect the synth itself. What is kind of annoying, though, is as new sounds are downloading, the browser keeps jumping to the currently downloading bank. It should not display that bank until it is fully downloaded.

@djeastiano this has no fucking tools, it's a rompler, sure you can do different things with it, but ultimately the sounds are what they are and they're outdated and old. The whole point, is that you can get a real synth, that actually let's you make your own sounds, for a fraction of the cost.
