My 84 Honda CB700 Nighthawk s has hydraulic lifters so I guess I’m lucky I don’t have to adjust them. You do very nice work and I enjoy watching your videos.

I was always led to believe that when you turbo charge any engine you need to lower the compression ratio by using a thicker headgasket to compensate for the increase in compression caused by the turbo.
@DoctorMotorcycle4 жыл бұрын
Generally yes, but this setup needed all the help it could get to spool the turbo. The more power it makes on motor, the more power it makes on boost.

Hey have you looked into a pilot tube? Basically it runs from your boost tube to the bowl vent to pressurize the bowl to help with fuel flow. The bowl has to be completely sealed for it to work. I was going to turbo a Suzuki Samurai using a Harley CV carb and everyone who has done it used that setup with the pilot tube. This was going to be in a blow thru setup so draw thru maybe it doesn’t apply but figured I’d mention it.

If I went that route I would've needed a fuel pump/fuel pressure regulator. Too much additional work. I'll get this to work, it's just going to take some trial and error.
@itschrisb4 жыл бұрын
@@DoctorMotorcycle I don’t know that you would need either. It’s not for boost referencing to increase fuel pressure from a regulator it’s so that the fuel bowl is pressurized and forces fuel into the venturi based off the increase of air from the turbo. Again a lot of this is based of blow through setups but it makes it so you don’t have to run huge main jets. Either way I’m sure you’ll get it up and running and I’m stoked to see the progress!

@@itschrisb Yes, but just adding boost pressure to the float bowl won't provide more fuel. You need to be able to provide additional fuel via a fuel pump, or the float bowl would just run dry. The float bowl being pressurized would prevent gravity fed fuel from entering the float bowl, which is why you need a fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator.
@itschrisb4 жыл бұрын
@@DoctorMotorcycle ahhh gotcha. I didn’t think about the fuel being gravity fed! Sorry!

That die grinder/router abortion thing you use would do my head in. The body is massive with that itty bitty cut off disk. My OCD getting the better of her but you obviously are used to it.

Hey doc. I see the done motorcycle or else it looks done. But there’s no video that I can find. I may have missed it. I’ll go back look some more.

Hey Stan, not sure what you're referring to. You're saying you can't find the full build video? Click on the most recent video that I made, and skip to about halfway through the video to see new content. I think you're probably clicking on the newest video (the full build, where it's completed and I ride the final version at the end) and see the first parts and think "I've already seen this". Click on the new video and skip to about 15 minutes in or so, everything from there on is new. -Jimmy

Hello friend, I want to ask you something, I have problems with the original carburettors of my gs 400 and I am thinking of replacing them with a flat slide carburetor, would you give me your opinion if you are so kind? and what would be the appropriate one? Thank you very much, your channel is very good

Thanks didn't consider that, however the couple is very thick and meant to see boost so I doubt it. I'll check the next time I'm riding it though.

@DoctorMotorcycle4 жыл бұрын
It's all coming back apart in the next video or two for a rebuild anyways. Couldn't get it to build boost, did a compression test and got 90 PSI in the right cylinder and 70 PSI in the left cylinder.
