Immunology is difficult because you're trying to learn it from First aid and a question bank. The best one stop source is Robbins Pathology the orange book, 9 edition. It'll cure your issues and confusion. Then you can tackle anything. When I got reading immuno, I only took a few pointers down from uworld on my first aid. And my first aid wasn't a learning tool but an outline that I used before the exam. So that as I read the book, I would see the reminders and tie in to other concepts and section.

Hey! Thanks so much, a great video! As IMG I'm currently studying for Step 1. I love your notes, so structured and colorful. Are your notes available to copy or purchase? I would love to use them as an inspiration. Also, have you started a residency in the US? What are your experiences applying as an IMA? Thanks in advance! Kayla

Dear Raga, some time ago I commented on one of your videos and you told me you were gonna put up a video on how IGMs can apply for residency in the US (what an IMG has to do/complete before s/he can apply for a place at residency program in the US? Like ECFMG certification; whether one needs experience in the US before applying for residency, if yes, how can an IMG get this experience; whether it's a requirement to have recommendation letters from US physicians, etc). Could you, please, tell me if you are still planning to do it? Thank you very much!
@israkhan92978 жыл бұрын
Hey! IMG here who is planning to give USMLEs. - to apply for residency one must acquire an ECFMG certification - to acquire ECFMG certification, one must pass Step 1, Step 2 CK and CS - US clinical experience is not a requirement (that is not compulsory) for an application BUT gaining this experience is a big fat plus on your CV as it helps you get Letters of Recommendation This is a basic outline, I'm still 'researching' on the application process, so i don't know if i missed out anything. Dr. Raga made a video on US clinical experience you can check that out too.

Hey! First of all, THANK YOU! As an IMG, I was completely lost on how to start preparing for my USMLEs, and even which one to give first. So, Thank you for guiding me and helping me reach a decision. My question is, is reading from Kaplan/Pathoma books enough or do I need to watch the lectures?
@sunvavachi8 жыл бұрын
Issy Kay I would also like to know also the same thing.
@DoctorRaga8 жыл бұрын
Hello! As I mentioned in my previous videos, it just depends on what type of a learner you are! If you learn better by reading, study the lecture notes/books! But if you are more of a visual learner (like myself) you can watch the videos instead! So to answer your question, yes, reading just the kaplan lecture notes and the pathoma notes is definitely sufficient! It is not necessary to watch the videos as well! :)

Hello Dr. Raga; I am a a second year medical student in Charles University in Europe (English Program). it's a 6 year program. So I have 2 questions: 1-if you are familiar with the 6 year programs, when do you think is the best time to take the USMLE step 1(after 3rd or 4th year) knowing that pharmacology is in 4th year. 2-Do you think i should start preparing for the step 1 earlier, in other words, do you recommend making notes specifically for the USMLE simultaneously with my regular courses ? 3-Do you know any agents that can help me build a strong application for my residency in the US? or what is your advice on building a strong application? internships, shadowing, etc... Thank you ! Regards

Hey, Doctor I find your videos really helpful . I feel your ways of studying is kind of similar to the pattern that I would prefer for my self, like I really like the idea of you telling that we prioritise the Kaplan videos . Plus u take really impressive notes which is really organised . Just one more thing I would like to ask and that is as u mentioned that u right the question references no when u note down stuff from u world so is it going to be helpful to write down the question reference no. To all those part of the 1st aid which have been asked in the u world just to know that this part is a must to be revised or it be only crowding my book? And one more thing can u tell how do I understand what is to be noted or what is important or what is high yield when I am noting down from Kaplan videos coz I feel I might end up noting down excess and that won't be effective for memorising stuff? Thank You 😊
@DoctorRaga7 жыл бұрын
Hello! There reason I wrote the Q ID number in a few places was if i found the topic was a little difficult for me to understand and if that question contained a lot of new information that i couldn't write on my FA. I didn't do this for all the questions. And with regards to what to write in your FA, I would say that you should write down the information that either is not mentioned in the FA and you feel can have a question from, or even details that you feel you didn't know (and are also not written in FA)

Hey, it is a very helpful and the best video that I have watched till now about how to study and prepare for USMLE step 1... actually I am a fourth year medical student and I wanted to to apply for the USMLE step 1 , I already bought the Kaplan notes and videos plus the first aid book and I was motivated to apply for the exam but I didn't register for the exam yet ... but for some reason I don't know why I got demotivated to study from the books and apply for the exam ... so can you please tell me what to do to get motivated and apply for the exam? Like should I book a specific date for my exam before start studying to feel that there is a deadline for me or there is something that is pushing me to study? Or what can I don't?.... regards

@DoctorRaga7 жыл бұрын
I always did Uworld questions mixed! In my opinion, that is the best way to learn and prepare for the exam experience! It is very important to atleast have done one pass of Uworld! Towards the last week before my exam, I was mainly revising the answers from Uworld and only referring to the FA and my notes!

Rhea Saldanha I couldn't watch all the videos before my subscription got expired... I watched like half of them in 4 months, obviously taking notes and taking my time to let it sink in. I was doing the Kaplan qbank at the same time, and about the questions I can say the explanations are the best, even though the questions themselves are harder than uworld's . don't ask me if it works or not, I haven't done the exam yet but I'll take it this September

I am an IMG graduated 3 years ago and I am currently watching Kaplan High Yield videos alongside kaplan lectures notes, because I couldn't understand FA without having a revision of the subjects, the problem is that it's so time consuming, I had spent like a month in just anatomy and biochemistry and I'm planning to do the step 1 on august, don't know what to do by this time, what would you suggest me??
@DoctorRaga7 жыл бұрын
Hello! Well it is good that you are trying to build your foundation first because there is no point of reading FA if you feel you don't understand it fully. But in order to save time, I would suggest that you either stick to just watching the kaplan videos, or if you are a faster reader, just read all the kaplan notes! Watching the videos AND reading the lecture notes will definitely be very time consuming!
