Now I did stop watching Doctor Who six episodes into season 11 of New Who....And I only started watching again with the 60th anniversary specials and on. I have never watched Classic Who. Although I do respect it.

This is probably the best villain reveal in Doctor Who since The Master’s reveal in Utopia (2007). 🙌 I cheered with delight the moment Sutekh’s name appeared onscreen and was like *”Yes I knew it was gonna be Sutekh!”* 😄 Edit: Actually I think it was sort of leaked. I saw a Doctor Who Instagram post with Sutekh in it (I quickly scrolled passed it) hours before The Legend of Ruby Sunday was broadcast on TV. I keep forgetting they stream the episodes on BBC iPlayer/Disney+ just after midnight but just before the TV broadcast later that day. 🙈

It's a really cool reveal, but it felt so rushed when compared to The Beast in Impossible Planet. Not to mention the finale fake killing off every character in the first few minutes, immediately implying they'd come back by the end. He (or at the very least his disciples) was also mentioned in the Dr. Who episode involving the Time Beetle. So there's a decent chance then he could make another appearance. Alright, while so far since Russell has taken over again the only returning character he really got right was Beep the Meep. While the Toymaker definitely had the worst treatment. He is only the Toymaker by name, Sutekh still has some consistency so that is something to give him there. Even if most of it is still gone. He did Sutekh's return in such a chilling and powerful way. The reveal is just empowering and whether you saw Pyramids of Mars prior or not, you know things were going to get serious.

I think defeating sutekh was a difficult task to write off and it wasn't satisfying for sutekh to die like that. Plus the ruby's mom twist tho ideal was not good. I get that it's just a normal person being super mysterious but the leading of it and the execution was super bad. And the twist that sutekh was following the doctor ever since his defeat against the fourth doctor doesn't make any sense at all. Sutekh had the chance of wiping out everyone at any time (especially during the timewar) but he simply didn't
