I love that Shabaz showed his knowledge toward the end on Sutekh and how the Egyptian gods exist in the Doctor Who universe. He sounded excited to be sharing it, and did so without making new people feel silly for not knowing. As someone who has watched some, but not all, classic Who, it's nice when a little bit of knowledge is brought in, enough to make me want to check out more Classic.

Brilliant! Although Set/Sutekh is the Egyptian god portrayed with a horse or donkey head, at least in later times. The Set Animal or Sha in earlier depictions is somewhat confusing, looking basically canine, but with odd square-topped ears and a forked tail. It's not a jackal like Anubis. But it could be a gazehound, used for hunting and similar to the modern greyhound. Or it could be a fantastic beast, dreamed up to symbolize chaos.

Wasn't the original Sutekh sealed away with a piece of the TARDIS in the original series? So it would make sense that after all of this time, Sutekh would have an affinity for the TARDIS and able to eventually compromise it?

Carla said when the black and red mass was first showing up, in the Memory Window, "I know what that is, that's The Beast" or something close to that... which was voiced by the same actor as Suteck, who came back at 91 to do the voice again.... The Beast/Satan is also supposed to be in The Pantheon. So, is that line from Carla just a nod to the Voice actors' previous work on the show, or is it a hint that the Beast is coming back too???

Another great podcast! I come every week. I hope we will see Shabaz and Nadia for years to come and you antis don't get your way. I'd really miss them. I agree with Thomas mentioning Ncuti's scared reaction. The episode was awesome. I'm a classic fan who started watching in the 1980s and Pyramids of Mars never really did it for me, but I still had like a long-dormant memory reactivating and overwhelming me when I heard, "I bring Sutekh's gift of death to all humanity." I had guessed it would be Sutekh by then after the Time Window Chidozie death, but the episode was still 100% gripping. Also, I still think the Doctor's granddaughter Susan will be back on the show. They have to bring her back after all that teasing. Delightful to see Bonnie Langford on the podcast! Happy with Mel being such a big part of the show! Her talking about the UNIT company does seem to suggest the rumored spinoff could be real? Her teasing of the finale being heartbreaking and everyone's jaw dropping -- oh no! I can't wait till next week.

Throw in a susan foreman connection somehow. Btw my other theory is that rubys mother/father/other is Horus. The god of light/life. Sutekhs rival. Ok everyone hear me out I have a theory, what if Ruby’s mother is the 13th Doctor? The reason I say that is that after The Giggle aired Russell said during the commentary for it ‘every Doctor bi-generated as well in their own personal timeline at the same location they originally regenerated’ so my theory is that if that’s true maybe 13 awoke on that cliff edge and sometime later somehow conceived Ruby? Another reason I say this is because when the 2023 Christmas special aired the first thing I noticed about her mom in the wide shots was that she was wearing short pants and boot like shoes which is the exact same thing 13 wore as well

Remember, not everyone from Galifrey was a timelord. If you watch the original episodes where Susan was a student who traveled with "Grandfather", she was niot identified as a time lord. In fact, when the Doctor left her in a distant future London with David to start a family, she was not a time lord

It’s NORMAL to skip adventures in the TV series, and has happened in every revival series as well as the classic series. In fact that’s how we squeeze in things like charity specials (“Time Crash”, “Destination: Skaro”), DVD extras (Good Night, Bad Night, First Night, Last Night), comics (the very start of the 14th Doctor after the regeneration), and entire novel series like Virgin Missing Adventures and BBC Past Doctor Adventures. This continues with BBC New Series Adventures, up to and including the 15th Doctor, so I recommend finding the stories titled “Ruby Red”, “Caged”, and “Eden Rebellion” coming in November.

Ruby must be Horus reincarnation. Horus, Egyptian god with the power of the sun rays. Ruby Sun-Day, just as Horus who defeated Sutekh in the ancient Egypt almost 3.000+ years ago. Actually, Ruby's age as shown in Boom is 3082 years.

Most probably, given how prominent Horus was in the original story about how he got Sutekh trapped, Ruby Sun-Day (Eye of Horus) will take a major role into defeating Sutekh. Anyway, I'm hyped!

​@@mirandamartinez8107 maybe part of the "heartbreaking" twist is that, not only someone else dies next episode, but Ruby, being so crucial to the story so far, has to sacrifice and become a sort of "Horseman of the Apocalypse" or Sutekh fully destroys everything, then she is freed from that and is the one who takes out Sutekh, but she's killed with him 😮😮😮

We used to make them at school and scouts we used an old metal paint tin to store it in which was used as both storage and could place inside as a wind break and stand. Tent pegs were used as a shelf through holes 2-3 inches from the top. Holes on the bottom which we used to control air flow cover in duct tape. Great video

When I heard the voice in the Time Window after the Cornel's apparent demise and he says "I am in Hell. It's seen right into my soul and it's so old" it was SO reminiscent of The Impossible Planet and The Satan Pit (Season 2, with the 10th Doctor and Rose). Like, it's 'The Devil'.

So many Easter eggs in this episode. Still don’t know who Flood is. Saying she is hiding herself away. Is she a time lord? Is she a Tardis herself? Another god? The CCTV on Ruby Road is 67 meters or “73 yards” away. The exact distance you can’t make out facial features. Her “mom” can see Sutekh and is pointing at the TARDIS, either warning the Doctor, or being defiant to Sutekh. Is she future Ruby crossing her own timeline? Another god? Who is Susan really? We still don’t know why she is scattered throughout time and space. Is she just an avatar projected in time and space by Sutekh?

I have a theory that the Curse of Fenric water music diegetic sound over Susan's transformation indicates that Fenric is involved and is the one creating the cursed family of Susans throughout history, as that is the kind of thing Fenric does. Sutekh is getting Fenric to do its dirty work to free it into this reality. If the Doctor and Unit need to battle both Fenric and Sutekh then the only way they can defeat them is to use two TARDISes (well, two time machines) to trap Sutekh back in his temporal corridor. (One at each end). Hmm. I wonder where they can get another one at short notice? (This is not the first time Russell T Davies has had a last minute additional villain. Remember Doomsday and discovering that the sphere had nothing to do with the Cybermen?)

I was thinking about “the impossible planet” episode the whole time sutekh was being revealed. I’ve seen that episode a hundred times it’s my absolute favorite. Carla also calls it “The beast” and in the impossible planet the doctor refers to it as that. Harriet starts saying all the names, he goes by, just like in the impossible planet. And the unit guy talks about how old it is, and in the impossible planet the doctor talks about how the language is impossibly old and the tardis can’t even translate it. I didn’t know the guy that voiced i Sutekh was the same guy until I watched another video that told me lol but yea I totally was thinking along those lines and I’m so glad it was talked about on here.

Tom Baker is my favorite Doctor. I loved everything about his era from the gothic horror to the comedy heights to the hard science. Sutekh was one of the greatest baddies to come along. What does he want? The fact that the Doctor sent him to the very far future so he could never be in this universe again. This would send Sutehk on a road to cosmic destruction.

The Doctor says timelords can change and HIDE their faces. mrs Flood also mentions hiding her face. Mrs Flood was warning grandma not threatening her. I think Mrs Flood is Susan.

hashtag Doctor Who Sutech was not voiced in 1995 it was voiced in 1975 tom Baker and Elizabeth Sladen in the periods of Mard we watched the episodes I think there's 4 or 6 of them but it wasn't 1995 it wasn't a series in 1995 the last episode was in 1987 I believe So check your fax and double check them again but the real actor who played suitc with 1975 almost 50 years ago and thank God he's still alive to reprise his role. by the way wouldn't you like to see guys see Sergeant Benson come back and say general Benton. I know he became a captain eventually but that was after Mike Gates defected. and that would literally be 50 years ago I don't know if the actors still alive but I hope so.

A critical comment i have for the episode was that it seemed odd that the Doctor would show up at unit casually with two problems, like one is clearly concerning to him, but also here's this fun little challenge about Ruby, but then it seems like he spends more time on the problem for Ruby, and just kinda forgets about Susan for a bit. It just feels a bit disjointed without reason.

Susan must have regenerated; I think she was left in the year 2020 as a teen. I could very well be wrong. If it is her, the storm she refers to would be the arrival of the Daleks.

Susan was left in the year 2250 after the Dalek invasion 😊. I take your point about her possibly having regenerated a lot of people have said she is not a time lord because it was never said that she is. I disagree because at that point in the show the concept of the time lords and regeneration didn’t exist.
