Zach DP “obviously she’s not the best doctor” and no one would even blink at that statement because of how obvious it is, you won’t get that for any other doctor except John hurt maybe. But “she’s not that bad”. She isn’t even a Doctor, she has no dimensions and her actor is the first actor in the part to just be a divisive arsehole to fans in interviews and on tv and anywhere while she’s still pretending to be the incumbent doctor! Yeah “we hating” because she has come in here, taken something beautiful helped to destroy it and been the face of that destruction, she clearly hates anyone who has a problem with that and I’m supposed to be happy for her that she got to meet Coldplay (who to her are like the Doctors to me and you I’d imagine) and release a cover of her favourite song of theirs - and I’m supposed to feel sorry for her that her confidence was knocked a bit when she heard some fans complained she was too silly? Instead of pissed that’s all she’s heard about her performance? She doesn’t care about Doctor Who only her soapbox - if there was nothing you found good in 54 years of the show until 2017 then it probably isn’t for you! Don’t make it something it’s not. And listen to Barbara Broccoli.

After watching this scene I like to imagine that in a certain amount of years, there'll be another anniversary of the show and the BBC will make something similar to this but focusing on Davies' revival of the show. A scene where Russell T. Davies and the director for the first season sit down with Christopher Eccleston and he convinces them to cast him as The Doctor. Then the two scenes would contrast each other. Fantastic.

Andrew Chapman I think the Beeb should do new (either wholecloth scripts or adapted from the EU) First Doctor stories with David playing the First Doctor. They also could restore old stories that have been lost with David and other actors to replace the original companion actors. I think people would watch those if done right simply because it would help people not familiar with the franchise in general WHY it's lasted 50+ years and counting.

See... I "would" agree with you... if I didnt know for a fact that New-Who and modern TV in general would superimpose wailing music and dramatic long emo stares at the camera while talking like first semester philosophy students pretending its "meaningful" ... In other words... Do not touch the old episodes ever! After all we dont go back and "touch up" the Mona Lisa for modern audiences... maybe draw some new make up? Different hair style? Also the whole renaissance clothing is way out of date and not "hip" anymore... Maybe something from Lady Gagas collection? Oh! AND she should be drawn as if she was taking a "selfie"... yeah! Lets do that...! Right? Right?... no? George Lucas should never have redone Star Wars and equally nobody should redo classic who.

I think the TARDIS does not want to be anything else. The whole theme is the Doctor being the policeman of the universe, dropping in when he is most needed and stopping everything falling apart. So the TARDIS (which can change shape, the TARDIS is always changing shape subtly within the basic police box paradigm, changing color slightly, the font and the color scheme of the signs, the shape of the lamp and the presence of the St Johns Ambulance logo, as well as the height) stays the police box shape in order to remind him of who and what he is: A policeman, forever out of place wherever he is.

It all started out as a wild idea, an idea that pretty much no one in the studio believed in, only to turn into an icon. But when 1989 rolled a long, they believed it had it's run, so they planned to cancel it. It was gone for a while, returning in the mid 90's as a tv film. But then...one day back in 2005, the BBC aired, "Rose". Introducing a brand new generation to the man in the box, bringing it back for those who grew up with it before. It started off as a crazy idea, now it's one of the most influential and popular science fiction series known. That's Doctor Who, a show that like much like it's police box, is bigger, better, a d has much more potential on the inside.

It is odd that William Hartnell's doctor is remembered as an old man. He took the part of The Doctor when he was only 55. Sometimes I think that when people remember the first Doctor they're confusing Hartnell with Richard Hurndall, the actor who replaced him in The Five Doctors twentieth anniversary special. He sadly died shortly after filming.

I mean, have you watched the first doctor serials? He certainly acted the character as a very old man. If anything, they're getting the actor confused with his own character. And despite him only being 55 he looked older than he was and had a lot of trouble remembering his lines. He died only a few years after leaving the show

So there's a universe where my whole life and adventures are fiction on a TV Show... I wonder who's the actor who plays this version of myself. Maybe is Peter Davison, a lot of people say we look alike.

William Hartnell deserve to be remembered as the "first" doctor... its because of him that the show started... it should be his legacy... then the current BBC kinda ruined that by trying to change the plot...

Was that really true? Did they intend William Hartnell's face to be in it but took it down because it looked terrifying? Only ask because of what they did later on with Patrick Troughton's face appearing in his titles.

I imagine with the budgets getting better, since the show was gaining popularity, they could probably afford to super impose him over them. They were on a shoe string budget in the hartnell years.

If you don't know why a tv show explodes like this and simply goes on forever you don't know your viewer. Doctor Who is a masterpiece that'll never die because of what it is. A fan will cry whilst watching every second of this bio pic.

Apparently, it almost died again after Whittaker’s run. I heard the BBC couldn’t find a director to replace Chris Chibnall and RTD thankfully stepped in (killing the little spark of hope I had for Christopher Eccleston returning one day sadly). But still, I think New Who may be in its final few years, enjoy it while it last.
