It's strange how the Doctor Who encyclopedia revealed that The Wire's Planet of Origin to be Hermethica, and in the Time Traveller's Almanac, it was further stated that she was the leader of a criminal gang of Hermethicans who found themselves able to convert themselves into beings of plasmic energy, yet this was never mentioned in the episode at all.

Something deeply terrifying about the wire, it's like an old scare tale you'd tell a child in order for them not to watch too much TV, tbh this would have probably scared the wits of an over imaginative 5 yr old child in the early 80's lol. They'd have been scarred going near a TV in fright of the wire appearing on the screen to gobble them up lol.

Fun side note... They clearly used color displays for all of this and just set them to display monochrome (blue for some reason?) apart from that one part. Digital screens have pixels, color CRTs have visible phosphor dots, but black and white TVs have a uniform phosphor coating, so there shouldn't have been any visible pixels or dots when they zoomed in on her towards the end.

I know right? Actually there were a tonne of things that linked Clara to Rose in series 8 which ended up bugging me (I love Rose but original stuff people!) Her Mother died on the same day as the Doctor met Rose. This episode was so similar to her first proper episode (even down to the mode of transport!). They had a reoccuring thing of Rose in names or in every room. They sang hungry like the wolf. “Boy and Girl fall in love, get separated by events; war, politics, accidents in time. She’s thrown out of the HEX, or he’s thrown into it. Since then they've been yearning for each other across time and space, across dimensions. This isn’t a ghost story, it’s a love story!”- really across dimensions, involving ghosts. Stop it! And about a hundred other obvious similarities in episodes such as the same quote form the Doctor and them both visiting the sun exploding and yada yada. And then nothing happened in the 50th to do with it so I'm still going ," why guys?"
