Documenting the End of Toronto's Line 3

I took a walk along the "Scarborough RT", a rapid transit line in Toronto's east end.
This was planned to be a farewell to the transit line, as it was scheduled to shutdown in November 2023. However, an accident a few months prior led to an early shutdown. So this documents the line in a raw, empty state before something is done to it.

I remember being a kid in the 80s and taking the lrt from Scarborough town centre to Kennedy and then catching the bloor subway downtown with my dad. It was a good way to see the city since it ran above ground the whole way.

One time when I was riding the Scarborough RT north from Kennedy to Lawrence East Station and a northbound Stoufville GO train was departing at the same time and I managed to nag a video of it at the time because to was so cool and rare to see these trains riding along side by side, racing each other and you"ll be surprised to know the RT train was actually faster than the GO train and had a lead on it until it had to slow down approaching Lawrence East where GO Train ultimately won Good memories

The bridge at 3min mark was a great place to bike over on a summer evening and just watch the trains. Also congrats on getting recognized as a now youtuber.

Honestly, they should’ve connected Line 5 to the RT tracks (as well as building the Line 2 extension). You have a Right of way, which was originally designed for Light-Rail and now you build an Light-Rail lines to one of its Termini.

The whole situation with Line 5 at Kennedy is disappointing. It could have been what you suggested, it could have been direct extension of the LRT to Kingston Road and UTSC, it could have at least been built in tandem with the Line 2 extension. Any rapid transit in Scarborough just seems like a sick joke, just brutally unable to be built properly

you showed the map of the whole area you are speaking of and I don't know if it would be and cheap/free/expensive program, but it would be cool if you showed the route you are walking with a semi-transparent map and you being represented by a dot. But I will say that as far as I know the topic (were nature and infrastructure meet) you are covering is not being covered by anyone else.

Yeah, that dynamic map sounds like a great idea, I'd love to do it. But I need to make sure I don't bite off more than I can chew, I only consider this my "second" "real" KZbin video, and putting it together was a feat in itself. But I'll keep it in mind!

I used to feel so bad for the people trying to get on the RT at Lawrence East station during the morning rush hour. There was never any space. Scarborough has been so underserved when it comes to rapid transit, it's ridiculous. The fact that the funding for the busway was only secured this month is an embarrassment.
