Good job man. I have this pedal and I’m glad someone came with a very good review about it. Thank you! 👍🏽👌🏽🙏🏽

When playing a passive bass through an envelope filter you MUST boost your signal to get the most quack or "wah" out of it. I use a compressor with a "Level" control but any EQ or preamp that has a way of boosting your signal before the envelope filter works. You demonstrated this concept most perfectly at the parts when you had the Way Huge and then the Darkglass driving the DOD pedal. Superb demo.

some passive basses have hot output and doesn't need to use external boost before filter

The controls are interactive. Set the THRESHOLD to where is just opens up with a slightly aggressive touch. Then dial the RANGE down to tighten up the speed of recovery. Adjusting the knobs with your left hand while thumping with your right hand is the best way to find the sweet spot. With that bass I think it would be about 10:00 for the RANGE and 2:00 for the THRESHOLD. You missed that setting.

Closest vintage pedal to that bootsy and p Funk Sound. If u blend it with original signal, or play with a keys bass player, you have da bottom fat back

Tom, do you find it easy or difficult to switch to the short scale bass? I have switched to a short scale bass (a Mustang PJ) because my hands are getting old and arthritic, but even after a couple months with it I have a hard time making large jumps and getting the right fret unless I'm looking.
@FBT6 жыл бұрын
I made the mistake of taking the Mustang to a gig a couple of days after buying it and everything felt very cramped. It's great for everything below the 7th fret, but I find that I have to make significant changes to my left hand technique in the upper register because the spacing is so tight. Re: large jumps, I find it takes 2-3 months of concerted effort with a new bass to build up the confidence to play without looking - on gigs I still don't entirely trust myself not to mess things up!

The foot switch bolts don't tighten from the front....you have to open the pedal up and pop out the board just a little...then tighten the bolts under the switch...do that once and it will not need tightening again for many years

Sir, what is the setting to produce sounds like on the "Sir Psycho Sexy" by RHCP ? Thank you.

He used a mutron with a dying battery. A gated fuzz that you can set low into something like a qtron is close. The bassballs is too spicy and swirly to me, for lack of a better description lol

awesome sounding pedal solo, but you'll get absolutely buried in a mix, which sucks as this is one of the funkiest envelope pedals out there.

Its true, I got this for my bass years ago. With the bass, the sound just fades way down and is weak.

A shame, you have to listen to Flea improvisation with this pedal. He does that on a 90's bass class video.
