+Watchman4u - It's where Yngwie uses it... only cutting out the DOD 250 noise, not the amps gain. I agree it would work better in the loop, but that's not how Yngwie uses it- since his amps don't have a loop. Just sayin'...

You could really tame down the noise by dialing back the drive and level a bit. You have gain to spare in your tone and your noise suppressor would be able to be more effective in damping the harsh hiss. Great technique and tone overall. Made me buy a YJM Overdrive of my own.

here is the deal.. I had a YJM pedal.. it sounded like complete garbage.. I have a Stock Fender Strat, a Marshall JCM 2000 dsl combo amp. Not nearly enough bass and tone... I am looking to get a way huger tone, gigantic, while keeping a Strat sound.. not sounding like a million angry bees.. I dont want more distortion, looking to keep a Strat tone, just bigger than any before if possible.. can this YJM pedal do that if modified, and how to do it? If not, what is a smart, inexpensive fix? (NO budget to buy more gear) just have to be smart and tweak what i have...what do you recommend?
@1971SuperLead8 жыл бұрын
+Michael Craig Dude, on your overdrive pedal (no matter what you use) try maxing the volume knob and rolling the gain way down. I know this will make it impossible to switch the pedal on and off without experiencing a huge volume loss, but certain overdrives will make your amp sound fantastic. More dynamic, punchy, etc. Even on a solid state amp. This is the old school method. Back in the day, we all cranked the volume knobs on our overdrives to the max and used just a little gain. It makes the amp come alive.

Hey Oliver ! My current gear is : SX 62´ guitar (Strat imitation) with HS3 on the bridge , Seymour duncan hot rails on the neck. Marshall Valvestate 8080 YJMDOD308 + Boss NS2 noise suppresor. Should I get a Fender Stratocaster or a Marshall full valve amp ? (like JCM2000, 900, 800) . Does the Fender Strat really make a difference in sound and tone against my already modified imitation ? Thanks a ton !

I asked that to you because I was looking for a preamp/overdrive pedal to boost my signal (I have Di Marzio HS-3 and HS-4 in my Strat, too) and I finished using the Boss Super Overdrive to boost the signal....What is your opinion about the diference between the Boss and the DOD? I use all the level way up, but nothing of gain....too much noisy....
@OliverLukacs-XXL10 жыл бұрын
The Boss is definitely less noisy, more usable with high gain but the YJM adds the Yngwie mojo lol. With single coils I would suggest using a noise suppressor in the chain. Just remember that these are overdrive pedals and not distortion pedals, so most of the gain will come from the amp.
@rafchirinos10 жыл бұрын
Thanks Oliver. Remember that Di Marzio' HS series are stacked humbuckers....no hum.....and my distortion comes from my rig, so, my sound isnt tube based.....but I agree in the mojo added by the DOD. Thanks again, and rock on!

@OliverLukacs-XXL Жыл бұрын
@@stefanofestinese506 In this song it's the same level in all solo parts/ song sections. If there is a need, one can achieve different levels through loads of different methods from guitar volume pot, boost pedals, volume pedals, a simply louder patch if you're using a programmable digital unit through to switching channels on your amp. Depends on the requirement really.
