I paid $250 for a new steering shaft at the auto parts store Couldn't find a deal anywhere online. I learned that the 4wd steering shaft is the same as 2wd , 1996 dodge ram 1500 with 5.9 magnum

I’m replacing the heads on my 5.9 and I was wondering if there was any you’d recommend?

After looking around I went with the baisic EQ heads. I'm not going for anything fancy on this build, and from what I've read they're copies of the old Mopar Performance heads. So I couldn't beat the $850 for both, assembled and at the door. Hughes Performance has some tuned up options for cast iron heads as well as some aluminum options. I did take Hughes advice and will be running they're recommended head gaskets(don't have the PN handy). They claim a slight bump in compression with these heads.

@@Chumley360 yeah I’m not going for anything fancy either I just need some decent cheap replacements that are close to OEM. But $850 for both that’s definitely not bad at all considering they are assembled.

eBay headers are junk. Gibson shorty headers or you might as well leave the stock ones on

I won't dispute their junk status, but I can say that after 30 years of looking at junk header vs stock manifold dyno runs, junk headers are fine. Also I didn't go into these for "power", I wanted the stainless steel to replace cast iron. On that front they are fine.

Thanks for the feedback. I just noticed the sound thing the other day. I usually work on these with my earbuds in and my volume seems fine in the end. I guess my settings are off, still learning this stuff.
