Before The merger of Dodge, Plymouth, and Chrysler into the Chrysler Corporation, and even before Henry Ford began using them for suppliers to his automobiles, the Dodge brothers went into the auto manufacturing business. This rare and original film shows the plant and assembly line of the Dodge Brothers automobile. The movie shows parts being manufactured, forged, pressed, as well as employees assembling parts during the various stages of manufacturing. Also in this film shows the testing grounds, vehicle testing in various climate conditions as well as the final line of cars that were available during the 1920's. This film shows much of what happened during the industrial age and early stages of automobile manufacturing when their was much competition between car makers. The silent film features a selection of modern music as an accompanying track.

This was really neat to see, amazing how they made all the parts in those days. Far cry from today. I love seeing how things were done back when.

Was the Dodge Brothers considered a higher tier auto than a Ford at the time ? Probably Based on early Ford factory videos, it does appear that Ford had them beat in manufacturing efficiency.

Great question surrounded with some mixed feelings. Dodge brothers originally supplied Ford with parts for some of his first cars before Ford began making his own and specifically for the Model T. So, for the time, I would say probably.

Yes..if Ford goaded them he lost but the DB died and it passed on to chrysler..he became ossified & later paranoid I think..

271 machines producing 300k screws. Sounds like a lot of hardware until you do the division. But back then it was Flying!

I enjoyed this video and the different perspective it offered during the early stages of the assembly line process and all of the foundry and machine work that it took to begin mass producing automobiles back then.

The industrial revolution. It hasn't let up yet. Then the cyber/robot revolution. I guess AI is next.

I always wonder who made the machines that make the parts? Great music. Hundreds of times better than most thumping electronic KZbin videos. Thanks

We are safe and unharmed. Much devastation as close as three miles from us. Many of our friends are still without water and electricity. Thanks for thinking and praying for us!
