tip, feed the carburetor some fuel before starting it up by pumping the the throttle a few times
@jerryhorn36212 жыл бұрын
That all depends on the equipment that is attached to that engine!!! I have a 66 Satellite with a 440 stroked to only 493 cu in. At the flywheel i while on the dyno it made 689Hp & 675Lbft. But it's main problem on start up is the carb.- it's a 1050 Dominator - even though it is the most street "friendly " one they have ( model 8896) it has a pair of 50cc accelerator pumps. and of course NO CHOKE. So touching the throttle at the wrong time and do much is NOT A GOOD IDEA. Sometimes just a bit of "carb cleaner" will vapor very nicely so it will "catch" and light up, Now the trick is to get it near 2,000 for a minute or so till it gets warm enough to idle ( which at this point is 900-1000 rpm in gear. So feeding a carb before starting all Depends on what else is there. And our car (wife and I) is pretty mild for a Mopar - no power adders, or juice just pump gas. The kids at the car shows love it as it 3" straight exhaust with Flowmaster Delta 40's ( I have a hearing problem - so tail pipes are not necessary-just down spouts) it also has a a great sound, just like the purple Charger. We like most Mopar people try not to SCARE you blue oval and bow tie people. Maybe it will be better after we add throttle body injection.

What I’d do for a 427 cobra, a Mopar 440, a Mopar 383 or a Mustang SCJ.

I will take any classic big block to be honest.Ford,Chevy,Mopar all had some impressive hp and torque for that era. Some nearly 500ft lb off the showroom floor.That was over 50 yrs ago too.

May I ask how come in every video I've seen it always takes time to start em up is that because the motor needs to warm up or something🤷
@tournesolsss3 жыл бұрын
Hello it is because it is old technology . Carburators not electonic injection, this car doesn’t have starter so you need to feed 2 huge carburators, possible to put an electric gas pump instead of mechanical , it is next change to this car :) your question is not stupid !!

@@tournesolsss Yeah. Have a 69, when I found it, someone had put a electric fuel pump in it, and it does get that fuel there quicker. It had like a dedicated switch for it under the dash. I ended up replacing it cause it went bad 200 miles after I bought the car. Most likely putting EFI in the winter...
