Thanks for the video, makes me more inclined to get ready to order the stuff to fix my 2018... I was thinking about just letting a shop do it; I typically do all my own maintenance but have been extremely lucky and never had a crank seal go out on any vehicle I have owned

Thanks for the info! I gotta do this to my recently purchased used Cummins. It’s been leaking a couple drips a day and it’s also leaking from the timing cover. 2 leaks fixed in 1 stop 😅

Thanks for this video, it was super helpful. Before I tear into my 6.7 because of an oil leak is there an easy way to tell if the leak is from the crank seal or the back of the timing cover? Thanks.
@ourentrepreneurlife334811 ай бұрын
If you go under the truck you should be able to pin point the leak. If the are is covered in to much oil, it would be best to degrease the engine and drive it for a little bit to try and find the leak. It should be obvious where’s it coming from though. That being said, the timing cover needs to come off no matter what so you’ll need to change the front main seal anyways.

Do you have a list of torque specs for reassembly?

I don’t currently as my all data subscription expired. But they can also be found only fairly easily.

Does the white plastic stay on the seal when installing the cover back on ? Many other seals don’t seem to have it ?
@ourentrepreneurlife33482 жыл бұрын
Yes it does. It’s only used for install though. It expands the seal over the crank shaft so you don’t damage it when installing it.

Yeah I’ve always found shops quote way to high for jobs like this. It’s a very easy job with the right tools.

no 545 sealant on the seal? you didn't install the red version... doesn't that one call for 545 hydraulic sealant to be added as per cummins?
@ourentrepreneurlife3348 Жыл бұрын
We purchased the parts directly from Cummins based off of the engine serial number. Thanks for your questions.
@jessepushee9653 Жыл бұрын
OEM or not that seal requires a hydraulic sealant as per Cummins. @@ourentrepreneurlife3348
