DODGE DAKOTA R/T ENGINE REMOVAL

In this DODGE DAKOTA R/T ENGINE REMOVAL video we remove the engine from a 1999 Dodge Dakota R/T with the 5.9L Magnum V8 Engine. The engine blew up due to increased wear on the bearings in the bottom end we believe as there were copper flakes in the engine oil. The supercharger from procharger most likely expedited the increased wear on this engine causing it to show its weakness. Rather than having more downtime we found a used 5.9L engine from a crashed durango R/T that we are going to install in this pickup truck for now to get it running. The replacement engine apparently had a rebuild not too long ago but we will see how healthy the engine is before deciding to push this engine to the limit. We will also decide whether or not to start rebuilding the engine we took out and just keep this engine stock for the time being.

Well just an update from this video I think we’re keeping this engine in stock form just to get the truck running. Found a few things that don’t give me a whole lot of confidence to boost it and go full send so we may just get the truck running and build the one we yanked or run it until we finally find the Hellcat swap 🤟

we used orange loctite on torgue converter bolts, think about that,them being loose could be a disaster like you had allready, only god knows.......

David Ledford not at all it’ll just disengage if all 4 did come off, it might even stay. Torque converter is just that. What could be a disaster? I’ve never used loctite that’s asking for stripped converter bolts next time around

David Ledford back in the day You might’ve had to I’m not sure, but nowadays the tour converter usually won’t fall out even with no bolts because of the way it’s engaged

see how this motor does,an stroke an build the other,you might keep or sell it depending on things..etc..but a high horsepower spare would be great..408 or 410 is the common way i think..

i just read from production numbers on internet..there were only...32 DAKOTA R/T,S PAINTED....INTENSE BLUE..TOTAL,ALL IN 1998..ITS WHAT I READ..ID NEVER GET RID OF IT,AN SOLAR YELLOW IS RARE TOO..THERE WERE NONE IN ...TITTY PINK,,, I DONT THINK..BUT YES ITS A RARE ONE YOU HAVE........................
