Vans are far more useful than SUVs, haul more, better on long cross country trips, better mileage etc. Got a 2000 Plymouth Voyager over 20 years now, No engine or trans problems. Did have to replace water pump twice and things went haywire with a bad computer module at about 120,000 miles but since then, no problem (just used a junkyard module, that year could do that, no need to get ripped off by a dealer

Owned a Grand Caravan and a Town & Country. Yes, they have top notch interior but it's only to disguise the junk under the hood. Ask any mechanic, Chrysler vans have the worst transmissions on the market and the drivetrain is subpar in comparison to the Odyssey and Sienna. Hey, at least you can watch a movie while you're waiting for that tow or thinking about that $3-5K repair bill!

Here's why it's such a good car not just for families but for young, single and free people who are adventurous in the you know what department. 1. Tinted windows for privacy when you... 2. Seats that fold into a bed for when you... 3. Table for Dinner before you... 4. How about watching some TV for after you... 5. Sat Nav for the journey home after you... XD

When we lived in America, we always had a van. Nice big Dodge Rams. When we moved to Ireland, we searched high and low for something similar. Now we have a 1995 Toyota Granvia and she is a serious head turner. Everybody loves it!
@PearComputingDevices7 жыл бұрын
I love my wagons. I am no hippy, but I enjoy them to the core. Especially my Dodge minivans. I grew up around them, I never thought of owning one, or two.. I've owned Cherokees for the wagon qualities. But after my first kid was born the idea of a minivan sounded perfect. Our first was a 2002 Grand with most of the creature comforts. Then I picked up a 2003 stripper model for me to drive personally. What a change that was, I didnt own that one but for a year. I traded it up for a 2004 Chrysler Touring. Way, way nicer. But we've easily drove these used vans 75k-120k each. I am kind of thrifty and we dont buy new cars. But I will say my minivans have been the most reliable. I dream of a Grand RT, I love them rims. But until mine falls apart my budget dictates dream on.

My 2010 grand caravan sxt was nice to drive. Had some nice features. 4.0 engine which was punchy enough. But was horribly unreliable. We bought it used in Alberta where we lived at the time. In just over a year of ownership we had the transmission fail. 3500 bucks US dollars. 😖😡 Replaced three wheel bearings. The last original was noisy when we traded it off. It always acted like it was barely turning over to start. Like a weak battery but a new battery did not help. Then the AC compressor failed and locked up. 255 bucks plus 106 to recharge. Good thing I change it out myself. It would have been much more. I've had two previous grand caravans before. They're great when you have kids. Neither one of those gave me much trouble. One was a 94 model and the other a 2000 model. The 2010 was the nicest one by far. But most troublesome. I was bitterly dissapointed with it. It got traded off for a used Buick Enclave last week. Hopefully I'll have better luck with that.

These vans drive and ride nice and look cool for a family hauler, but Consumer Reports finds these have much worse than average reliability. Dodge dealers also have a poor track record of denying valid warranty claims. This isn't to say to not buy one. However, realize that you'll be handing the bank a check every month for $500 whether this thing runs well or not. This goes for any new car.

We love our 2012 grand caravan, except for the brakes. We've had to replace them numerous times, not because we're abusing the brakes, but because they're crap! Only complaint we have about the van. I'm wondering, does anyone know if Chrysler has addressed this issue? We're thinking of trading ours in for newer van but considering other brands only because of the brake issues.

Do you go to the dealership or somewhere else? It was a known issue on our old 2003 as well but we bought higher end pads and rotors and they would last 50k+ kms. Maybe even more then that no joke!

And that's the pads too btw! The rotors easily had 120k kms on them when we retired her and still stopped the thing no problem!

My 2016 is the worst vehicle I have ever owned! I bought a 2016 dodge grand caravan that had 128,000’s on it and at 131,000 the engine blew so I fixed it for $2700.00’s then 3 weeks later the trans blew! Now I don’t have enough money for a new used car so I am being forced to move back East where you don’t need a car. I wouldn’t spend 1 penny on another Chrysler product the best car by far and only good car I have ever owned was a 2008 Toyota corolla which gave me zero problems in 6 years and I drove long distances as a musician when I had that thing!

You have to be a millenial to believe this is the reality of what people think is important in owning a van, especially a Dodge Grand Caravan. It's like having a pretty woman who can't cook. Yes, there's a lot of bells and whistles, but wait till they break down, and then feel the shock of how much money it will steal from you. Yes, it looks nice, has windows that go down, and seats that fold dow, and it does have the versatility of being a van. But but all this and more should have been the standard from the beginning. Plus it still sucks gas, and there's just too many things to go wrong. Glad we got rid of ours with only 66 K miles.
