The water pipe or stand pipe can have a crack but a gallon/day??? The water pipe or stand pipe is connected to coolant and on the egr cooler side. The bottom of a T can crack and leak

Yes, but egr coolers are a more common fail point and leak coolant back into the intake, yes gallons a day when your putting down some serious mileage towing heavy! Also this one caused the dpf to fail it was so bad. It basically steam cleaned the brick and cracked it

Scrape and wire brush with some brake cleaner or degreaser

Do you think the broken egr cooler can also create pressure in the water system? My water gets pushes out of the coolant bottle when driving higher speeds and revs.

Ya they run pretty high exh back pressure it’s very possible

If I remember it’s an Allen plug located in the pipe that routes into the top of the cylinder head. I’m not currently looking at one just going off memory

I can’t believe how much trouble I have with my 2021 3500! Tomorrow it’s going to the shop. I sure hope it’s just leak in the cooler and not a head gasket, I don’t see any white smoke, but the vehicle does surgeon lose a little bit of power often.

Prob a small enough leak that it’s vaporizing in the dpf filter, this one had no white smoke, just coolant loss
