On mine it still was locking up after this procedure so I tried keeping the red wire connector disconnected and this unlocked the shifting mechanism. I believe removing the connector disables the foot on brake safety feature so it should only be used as a temporary fix! Great video and very helpful

It happened the same to me, only when I disconnected the red connector the shift was able to get out of parking. Do you know what's the purpose of that cable? No light came up on the dashboard and the truck is running fine now.

Thank you. My 2007 Ram 3500 was stuck in park. It was the ignition switch lock wasn't retracting. A couple shots of lubricant solved the problem.

Thanks for the close-in shots. We had a tornado that uprooted trees which fell on the windshield of my RAM. It was months before I got it cleaned up and a year with rain going into cab. Finally tried to move it this weekend and shifter is stuck in park. Going to try WD40 first, but at least I now know what I'm aiming for, and have a plan B if that doesn't work. Thanks again!

Another thing that can cause this is the cable lock solenoid. Dodge uses 2 safety mechanisms that lock the shifter. 1 is the rectangle looking block that moves out of the way when you turn the key. That is the first thing you pointed out behind the rubber cover at the shift lever. The 2nd safety is located inline with the ahift cable. If you remove the lower dash you can see it there. It is the second area poi ted out in the video. There is a 2 wire plug that attaches to the solenoid. If the mechanical block is working and you still cant get ypur rig out of park then try unplugging the solenoid. My shifter would not budge. Took me 30 seconds to get access to the plug. Removed the plug and now I can shift in and out of park at will. The primary safety is still there so shifting out of park withput the key turned is impossible.

Mine tends to do this when weather is cold. I tried WD 40 and didn't fix issue. So I put a screw driver up and push on the metal slide when trying to shift and that works to get it unstuck.
