An amazing song from a criminally under-rated band and some timely life advice about how we - the rage filled - might look around, dig deep inside and lighten our souls...

The foundation of all this Channel a reaction to and discussion of lyrics that have moved me, songs that have shaped me and words that matter to me. Thank you for reviewing this. One of my all time favorites. The writing is absolutely perfect. This whole album is chocked full of killer songs.

Great tune! I'm so happy you let it run to where you did at the beginning because I was going to wince if you paused earlier on that run of lyrics that is just so tightly linked. These lyrics have always resonated with me so deeply as they spoke for me at a particular time in my life quite well. Some people are just not ready to look at their own stuff. They are looking to blame and deflect and distract in any way possible from their own pain. Like you, the line 'I am unable to let things go - I'm told I do it very well' is me in a nutshell. In my case, being able to let go of a relationship bordering on toxicity with someone who was unwilling to grow was a battle of epic proportions. I wanted her to want to do her own soul searching for lack of a better word. In hindsight this was an equal part of the toxicity, me and my self-righteousness. What a paradox that I am unwilling to let go of her lack of willingness to unearth and let go haha Side note. I've always thought that was a very underrated guitar solo. Simple but very emotive. Second side note. Metaphorically, I'm really good at finding a stage where it might not seem obvious there is one. Such a good song lyrically and musically. One of my favourite things about following you on this journey is rediscovering songs I haven't listened to in sometime. Discovering new is fantastic as well but there's so much that has been consumed and forgotten along the way!

I was not sure you would know this, they seem like a forgotten band. But that album had so many great songs, amazing lyrics, great tunes and a GOAT harmonica player. This one resonated deeply for me, so did the mountain wins again. Hook is kinda brilliant and just wait is astonishing. And yes, we all find a stage to hide on, and we all struggle let things go and maybe we all struggle with rooting up and putting down. BUT sometimes, in the mirror of the song we see a reflection of ourselves and it helps lighten the load in some way. I am always thrilled when people share a story with me,m or a slice of their truth And knowing that even a few - you being chief among them - will come to the otherwise untrodden side roads really does give me some hope and some motivation and an embarrassing amount of joy. I'm ALMOST sad you knew this song, cause i was sure that if you didn't you would LOVE it So, I'll have to find some other things to delight you with Challenge accepted As ever, thank you, sir. very much dC

@@dodgycamreacts-lyricsinabo5170 I agree I believe they are a forgotten band. They were even forgotten by me so, though you are a bit sad it wasn't new to me, please be a bit joyful that you given me the gift of rediscovery once again. To your point about the mirror of reflection this is the exact reason for my love affair with music. It always gives me what I need. Sometimes I need to know somebody else has gone through what I'm going through. Sometimes I need someone to tear a strip off of me. Other times I just need to know there is a different way of moving forward. Music is such a gift. I've gone through much of my life thinking I missed my calling. Not that I ever thought I had musical talent, although truthfully I haven't explored that enough to know. I've always thought I should have worked in the business in some way or at least incorporated music into my work in some way. It's still a goal of mine! You do not sit alone in your joyful embarrassment my friend. Thanks for always bringing me back to the moment.

@@spiffymick7073 Oh, I have touched on the music business just enough to know.. it is NOt a business you wanna be in! The good people get crushed, the bad people are very, very bad! There are pockets of beauty and joy and some amazing people - but as a business it makes the old school mafia look rather sweet and harmless! That being said, I did very much enjoy my time on the road - working with a touring band is the hardest I ever worked, but also the most fulfilling. No way for a grown man to make a living - but the working holiday of a LIFETIME. As for music, you put it perfectly. My Nan always said of me "Rings on his fingers and bells on his toes, he shall have music wherever he goes" and it was prophetic. I will admit, with the invention of Podcasts I do lose music time to 'talk' time - but music remains a constant companion and I get all of what you say from it. I mean, I failed as a screen actor, so I am not nearly good enough an actor to fake it here! :) I might stubbornly do another Blues Traveller - even if NO_ONE is watching. If only to demonstrate just how willful i can be I blame the music I listen to! :) dC

@@dodgycamreacts-lyricsinabo5170 haha! You do you absolutely. Sounds like your Nan was a smart grounded woman. For the record when I say calling I definitely don't mean successful music career big business type of thing but I totally see and agree with your point. Perhaps there is a place for calling without career. Looking forward to the next whatever it shall be. Peace out.

A new one for me - straight onto the playlist. Certainly more upbeat than the melancholy of Heathaze, but even though an answer is suggested, its not clear that this good advice is ever being taken.

I can honestly say, this album is one of my all time greats. A set of amazing songs. And boy can popper play the harmonica. Run around was the single but look for Hook and The Mountain Wins again. It is tonally very different to Heathaze, but both songs just have emotion pour off them. It thrills me that you watched and listened to something new. Thank you, sir. That really is deeply satisfying.

And, yes. Pretty sure it's impossible advice. Even when we KNOW the answer can we ever really take it?
