I'm American, been obsessed with DoDonpachi and watching vids on it for years. Seriously. But of course, it's only in Japan....just came to London for a summer internship and, lo and behold, what do I find at the mall? A copy of this for about ten pounds (less than $20). Bought it on the spot....DREAMS DO COME TRUE.

For a good reason...STGs are incredibly hard to program in their entirety. Believe it or not, there was a failed attempt at porting Ketsui to the PS2 that failed due to stage 5's backward scrolling section. Now look at the volume of all that...well, for lack of a better word, stuff on the screen and you start to see how tough it can be. Then look at Hi-VAC...that's a whole different thing altogether, so it's no surprise that the TLB has its own programmer, not just as a sadistic move.

The UN got the data from EVAC after the ketsui operation. I'm pretty sure ketsui is a prequel to donpachi, donpachi insane 7 year training for their pilots as a attempt to replicate the 2 pilots and their co pilots miraculous attack.

Its different scoring mechanics and harder for the truly hardcore.

Resurrection is the european name (and USA ?) for Daifukkatsu. The Black Label version adds a new shot type (shot+laser), a sort of rage gauge that increases when you use it and make enemies go wild, canceling bullets give massive combo/point bonuses, and an arrange mode based on Ketsui (see video above)

I still won't ever see it that way. What I don't get is why it's only a few games that are locked and their most sought after titles usually. They go the extra mile to make us spend hundreds or break legal boundaries for their stuff. And "deal with it" isn't a very good explanation for what's accepted as incredibly stupid to most. That's like telling people to deal with money sucking disc locked content because they're still getting what they want.

During the Doom-fight, bullets are dissolving into nothingness every 3 seconds. What is this shit? The only difficulty is to learn the timing for when to shoot and when bullets start re-appearing, but all that cancelling and slowdowns take away the roughness of the original Ketsui. I don't know... it's an interesting crossover, but those completely overblown bullet-cancelling features kill it for me.

Cave makes some of the best games, but they are hands down the absolute DUMBEST corporation to ever exist in the gaming industry. They have the WORST business practices that not only hurt their fans, but limit their income. Seems like they don't care either.
