Another huge component to why 1:1 doesn't work is there is no fear in sim. You can go for punts and abuse front end lock as much as you want because there is no risk involved. We already have a bunch of aggressive riding and that would be amplified on a smaller scale track. It would be absolute carnage. Cool track to just mess around on though.

This is such a huge factor that people don't think about. If you make a simulator as realistic as possible, people are going to end up being able to do unrealistic things in them because fear is not a factor. You can't get hurt so there is nothing stopping you from turning a triple, double section to a fiver. It would be possible in real life if people just didn't care at all, lol. But if you want scaling to match how the tracks are ridden irl, they gotta be made bigger. I like the idea of 1:1, but the way people play would not make it ridden like it is 1:1. Lap times would be crazy fast compared to irl lap times. Sections that are double doubled regularly irl will be quadded in game without the fear factor. I think to make it as realistic as possible, it's more about finding the scaling that gives some of the best players in game lap times similar to the average pro's lap times on that track.

This is exactly why sims like ACC and Iracing will never be perfect. they try with things like safety ratings and such which to a point makes you clean up a bit but you never fear a crash at 180+ mph.

Remember the supercross tracks in Motocross Madness 2? The overscaling was just insane, even the tough blocks where as big, if not bigger than both the bike and the rider combined! 🤣

Personally, i really enjoy 1:1 scale tracks. If you’ve ever ridden a supercross track in real life, and are not a top level ELITE pro, you’d know how awkward it feels to ride. It’s tight, choppy, steep, and DIFFICULT. It requires throttle control, great timing, and patience and I think 1:1 tracks do a good job simulating the stress of the real thing. That being said you can’t race them in a video game, we don’t have nearly as much control with a controller or keyboard, it’s really just for single player enjoyment

@@DanArnets1492 Pretty insane to think that people have put 10,000+ hours into Sim and they still crash nearly every lap. There are some really neat things about the game but at the same time it is like motocross QWOP. 😄

i think the bigger issue with 1:1 scaling in sim is what happens if 2 guys get together and go down. it gets pretty tight even on the overscaled tracks depending on where the crashes happen. a first turn crash on 1:1 scaling could just block the entire track so easily you'd probably see a bunch of races nearly decided off of whether(or where) the crash occurs in relation to the rest of the field (ex position 1 crashes vs position 10 crashes) edit: which i think doesn't make for as interesting racing personally. but i also see that it could make championship's as a whole more interesting by making the effects of mistakes far more punishing
@Checkerz_448
@Checkerz_448 Жыл бұрын
What is interesting though is that slower speeds in those collisions make them less catastrophic a lot of times. It's all proportional. You get more time to react and slower stopping times because speeds are slower. It's a big jump to go that far all at once and while it's a sim, the community actually wants easy/wfo tracks.
@TheOriginalLokisam
@TheOriginalLokisam Жыл бұрын
@@Checkerz_448 i get where you're coming from for sure. i'm also somewhat biased towards scaled up tracks because i'm bad and i personally don't find it fun when even a small mistake in a corner can force you to double an entire rhythm section. i definitely understand the crowd that prefers harder tracks because it feels rewarding af. i just personally dont like it and think it leads to worse racing. there's enough shenanigans going on in the pack during races without the tracks being smaller

I really liked Jay’s 2018 Anaheim 1:1 track when it came out. Was a challenge for sure. Had to change my suspension setup a little to make it work for the slower speeds. But yeah it’d be really difficult to ride with a full lobby, lag between riders, and bumping bikes just doesn’t work the same as RL. I feel like Reflex physics on 1:1 custom tracks would probably be easier to not collide with other riders in a lobby and how the crash reaction logic worked in that game. Jay’s tracks look phenomenal though. Really goes to show how amazing MX Simulator can look.

Is it 1:1 comparative to the bike? If not that’s how it should be. My biggest problem with the MOnster energy super cross games is how big the bikes is, makes it really hard to get into rhythm sections smoothly compared to mx bikes

Looking at it the 1:1 scaling would work better if the bike and rider was also at a 1:1 scale, but you can definitely see that the bike and rider are probably closer to the 1:2-1:2.5 scaling themselves so scaling the tracks the same makes it look more realistic.

@ravenhawke5
@ravenhawke5 Жыл бұрын
@@naumen6508 you must not know how Scaling ratio's work. Go to your local hobby store and go look at the model cars or planes or trains. The first number represents how much smaller it is from the original size, or how many units stacked together it would take to fill the real thing. And if you would watch the video and listen to what he is saying you would get that. Most the tracks you see in Sim are built at a 1:2 - 1:2.5 scale which makes the tracks look bigger and wider where the 1:1 scale track that he is riding in the video looks small and compact.

4:58 would it really have been unrealistic? How many times did you hear pros saying that they weren't going to follow James Stewart's lines because of how insane they were. Stewart literally said that he'd die trying to win and his riding style proved it. I always thought it was a bit stupid that the MX Sim races always tried to make people cut back their riding style just because it's unrealistic. If the real-life pros would have no consequences for crashing during a race, no broken bones pain, or ruined bike I bet their lines would be insane.

Short answer is no 1:1 doesn't work because complex technical tracks are hard and instead of learning and accomplishing something through skill players would rather be coddled with easier tracks. If you are at the top of a field (game, sport, whatever) you should want more complex but that's not the way it is anymore. I'd rather watch a bunch of top level racers compete in a technical complex track over a big fast track where not much happens. But ultimately I'm in the minority so we have what we have.
