Then cradle to grave control of gallons to Oz. purchased, stated purpose, total weight recuperated even with waste like paint, and is disposal of product double bagged, yellow tape enclosure and treated as asbestos for licensed abatement company. Papers filed w/EPA. That’s easy! Unless your brother cleans rail cars, strips airplanes for repainting or semi trailers you are SOL unless you’re chemistry set in the top of your old room has instructions on how to make it. Maybe I’ll borrow a cup from my neighbors! I never thought of that. I have 19 gallons of the good stuff from 4 years ago, stored in coleslaw O-ring buckets from the deli at our grocery store. It comes premixed. Hey, maybe they have some methylene chloride sitting around.

Go to your favorite search engine and type in “EPA methylene chloride”. Look for EPA.gov that will be the real Mc Coy. A far as buying this product on Amazon, first off, if true, the people in the legal dept will give the sellers name, address, account number & shoe size. Then, they will hit print of the people who bought this chemical and my name won’t be on it. We have uncle Joe in the Oval Office looking for a corner to pee in. He’s not concerned about anything so he’s going to allow what ever law the EPA feels necessary. If someone thinks otherwise, heaven help their wallet if they find a lawyer to take their case. Why are gallons of paint stripper have large “Green” labels that say “Non Methylene Chloride” on the front of can? That’s like fire-crackers saying “No propellant inside”. Wow! Good luck!

I don’t think that there are any good paint strippers out there these days due to the manufacturers taking the nasty chemical out of them, I think we’re all getting ripped off, I had the same trouble with a different brand over here in the U.K. total rubbish and making a lot of hard work for us people. I will look into making my own I think.

@@AEON. Goof-off does NOT contain methylene chloride. No paint remover that contains methylene chloride can be sold to consumers. Oven cleaner never contained methylene chloride. Easy-Off (yellow can) contains lye (caustic soda).

I talked to a chemical engineer friend and he claims that the methylene chloride paint remover can be duplicated at home by mixing pure methylene chloride with wax and alcohol. The exact proportions were trade secrets of the companies that produced paint remover so a certain amount of experimentation is called for.

1.) You applied it too thin by brushing it on like paint. 2.) Immediately cover it with plastic film to keep it wet and prevent evaporation. Use a hard plastic scraper to prevent gouging the metal.

@@Alex-je6od agree with the need for safe handling around the old version. Education of people reading the labels is what should be done, not removing products because of individual safety concerns. DDT and things that effect more than the user.. I agree with them being restricted.

@@danhoy8356 Yeah. With everything I said above, I agree outright banning it was an overstep. A better step would have been making it less accessible to Joe consumer. Make it required special "prosumer" order item from big box stores, etc. I was always a little nervous using aircraft stripper on large projects knowing proper safety for it. (right mask type? holes in gloves? etc) however, nothing really beats it when you *need* it.

EPA made it illegal to sell products containing methylene chloride since 2019. So you are waist money and time. Home improvement stores double the price the last year and had to return any unsold product. Only commercial companies can purchase it if they get a license, training, cradle to grave paperwork proof and disposal by the same places that handle asbestos. Yeh! Try placing a garbage bag over the paint immediately after brushing it on. It keep the acid from evaporating and gives it a longer time to react. Just what I've seen people do in the past. Good luck man

@@RipRoaringGarage not true... I used "citustrip" from Walmart and it destroyed all of the paint on my car. It literally washed off with a pressure washer afterwards. Maybe that product you had had bad results. But I used it on 3 stage paint and had no issues what so ever

After 2 coats and 12 hours of sitting under a plastic cover in the sun. Sorry your stuff didn't work, bummer. But there are products out there that will do the job.
