It's so wonderful to watch Haru and your father becoming friends again. Try not to worry that Haru didn't recognize him, it's because he's still so small and still growing, so his brain focuses on what he sees everyday, you, food, litter box etc. As he gets older he'll recognize people better. Poor Papa probably smelled like too many outside things. When they're this small, the rely on smell more than sight to tell people apart. So Papa coming in and not smelling like familiar cats or the house likely threw him off. But the longer they were in the same area, the more the smells faded and processed in his wee-teeny brain. And once it clicked, he was back to play with Papa.

I left my loved cat with my mother when I had to go interstate for some time and when I returned she at first didn't know me, although we'd been together for years! They possibly have memory problems at times the same as we do. However, after a while she eventually found me and came to find and welcome me - all was well again! They just need time.

Father came in wearing a different outfit than he wore the first time. Haru didn't recognize him. Father should have taken a seat and allowed kitten to approach instead of the other way around. Kittens got short visual memories, but their scent memory is pretty good.

Haru is not as familiar with your dad because he doesnt smell like you completely and the voice is different. if your dad is able to spend more time with Haru he might become more familiar to him. It honestly is nothing personal. He is just being cautious.
