Does Action Replay Powersaves STILL WORK in 2024?

Powersaves, an Action Replay device is over 10 years old now, and still capable of doing crazy things on your games. It uses some type of online servers to get you these codes activated though, so... does that still work in 2024 or was it shutdown like Nintendo's 3DS online systems? Today we find out!

Glad you put this. PKSM can do WONDERS with not just gen 6 & 7, but from gens 1-7! I have all handheld Pokémon games and can get every event, and have its own storage

Dead ass was considering playing Go for all the mythicals that were mistery gift only 10 years ago. But then i thought “hmm are action replays still useable after the online servers went down?” Only to find out this GOAT made a video 6 days ago to help me with my question 😂

And using mythicals from GO is arduous, you need two switches and accounts on HOME so that you can "launder" them in by trading using two phones, sending the traded Pokemon into the mainline game and then trading to your intended account... Fun! At least PLA made Manaphy, Darkrai and Shaymin easily accessible!

If any of you are picking one up in 2024, here are some good tips. First off anything you edit can pass the Pokémon Bank and Pokémon Home hack check, if it's legit looking. The hack check looks at the area a Pokémon was caught or hatched, the level it was caught or hatched at, the ball it's in, the EV's and IV's, weather it was shiny or not and the name plus the Ribbons and Ability. So when you edit a Pokémon make sure that it could exist. If you want an event set your game to the region the event is from, so like you want a Japanese event, force the game to be Japanese it will make your save Japanese, get your event in Japanese then switch back to English, one that is done the event will get a correct regional mark. That makes it easily pass all hack checks, I have used an old PowerSaves for years and I can say being smart with one you can easily make everything seem legit. If people need more help feel free to ask, because I have used one for years and know how to always work this thing. In short do your research and make sure every change or thing you do is legit. As for final cleanup points make sure the moves and Nature are legit as well because many events are often locked to a single Nature.

I have a shiny hoopa that I got from a trade bot in gen 7 and was able to transfer it to gen 9 somehow

@@salt3956 The hack check has 1 bump to keep fakes offline, fakes can slip into Home and even make it to Gen 9, using a fake online it will fail. They loosened the rules a bit to allow fakes to transfer, but they never work online.

@@ShiningJudgment666 The real test is always online use, after far to many people got a false flag from owning fake genned stuff, they allow it but it never gets to be used online. Even so my rules keep things legit, but I have moved things that are not legal. They allow it but you never get to use them online. You will get error messages, unless the thing in question is just legit enough to tick a few boxes the hack check missed.

@@salt3956 The hack check mostly just flags, online use. Pokémon Bank and Pokémon Home do not flag fakes directly, most of the flags now simply ban stuff from online modes, after a lot of people got hit in a bug sweep they now allow fakes, but you can't use them online.

Man, I remember the X and Y days where a few powersave havers run an FB group and you can request them to make you using a certain format according to what they prefer. As unethical as it was, it was peak social interaction back then. The community felt so alive. I wish I could go back and relive those days

thats real dude i bet people were jealous of you lol. i wouldve been as a kid before online shut down i used to wonder trade shinies to people that i got using powersaves. hope the people who got those enioyed them (they looked a lot more legit than the ones people would stream on twitch because they were just normal ones that i used the little "turn shiny" code on for) people knock on doing stuff like this but sometimes its just fun, yk as long as youre not using the stuff for like competitions n stuff then there should be no issue imo

Their is a pro program on the Universal Updater program if you have a modded 3DS stores your mons and gives access to ALL the Event distributions and acts as an active Action replay.

That was my go to tool, especially if I needed Pokémon with certain hidden abilities. I never used it to mod the stats but mainly for clone items & getting hidden abilities.. never turn any of my Pokémon shiny. That was one rule I put onto myself. So that way I don’t ruin my Pokémon experience.

I used to be an avid Action Replay kid on the DS games (up to Black 2 and White 2). Never was able to get the 3DS version. Now ive modded all my consoles and use stuff like PKHeX and PKSM if I need to edit a save file.

i still use the powersaves 3ds application! i got my friend a shiny porygon z using it because he wanted one that didnt have a nickname from a random website (he'd gotten one through wonder trade on scarlet) I've had this device for a loooooong time, so mine looks a little different than yours physically. looks more like the icons on the program than a rectangle lol. i also used to have two dsi action replays, and those things sell for a good chunk of money nowadays!!! both of mine broke in half after years and years of use.. but some of those old pokemon i got using them are still floating around save files, lol... i dont know how some of them didnt get flagged by bank and home. pretty wild.

@@KevdogPlays Powersaves 3DS also can brick your Pokémon games permanently because of the way they save compared to other 3DS games. They actually can overwrite your game files...yes the ones that allow you to play the game. I actually bricked Pokémon Moon this way. It overwrote the actual game and not just the save, making it so that I could not load my save file or start a new game past character creation without the game giving a permanently frozen black screen.

I was literally looking for a video like this to help me see if I can bring in generated pokemon from powersaves into home and then to scarlet from there but I could not find a single video showing it lol. Something like that wouldn't be emulated, the device would just be running the game natively as if it was from the normal eShop At that point though.... you have a modded 3ds so you could just do whatever with PKHeX and PKSM

Yeah I don't use my my Powersaves anymore. Don't EVER use them with Pokémon games if you value the cartridge actually working. So because of the way Pokémon games save, powersaves can actually overwrite actual game data and will permanently brick your cartridge. How do I know this? I used mine on Pokémon Moon specifically to max out items like master balls, it's really the only thing I do, just max out items. However, the last time I did so it overwrote the actual game files and every time I loaded my save back up or started a new game, everything after the character creation intro would just give you a freezing black screen. You are much better off with a modded 3DS honestly because at least then you literally cannot screw up the actual cartridge files, especially if you dump the cartridge. I wish I had the game still to show off, I may have the video saved or unlisted somewhere, but I doubt it.
