Thanks! Wish I were here earlier to ask about your take on Sclerals and astigmatism over the long term. I'm two and a half years in but still need readers for close work (no change from the beginning). Look forward to the next update! :)

Hi! Scleral lenses are excellent for astigmatism, especially high levels of astigmatism, even in the long-term. Needing reading glasses may be an issue of Presbyopia, which is a different issue from astigmatism. Presbyopia creeps in around the mid-40's due to the reduced function of the lens inside the eye. This is unfortunately normal. My guess is that they have your scleral lenses correcting your distance vision including your astigmatism, meaning you would need reading glasses for near vision.

@@DrEyeGuy My thoughts, as well. Thank you for the reply, I really appreciate it! My last exam seemed to show no change in vision with the current scerals after a year - I'm due for a new exam later this year. As an engineer who looks at a screen for 8-10 hours a day, unless I'm with a client but, even then, I have a big screen up in the conference room as I work on a laptop. Again, looking forward to your update! :)

So after you put a toric lenses to correct astigmatism, would you have astigmatism when you get older? So I would have to use glasses after that happened. Ty

Toric lenses (glasses or contacts) will help correct the vision (clear the vision) caused by the astigmatism. By wearing the lenses, it won't correct or resolve the astigmatism. But.... if you mean toric IOL implants, for example after cataract surgery, that could potentially make it so you would not have to wear glasses or contacts to clear the vision. But...... it is still possible for astigmatism to change... for example of there is a change in the corneal shape. I hope that made sense.

Hello, Will positive dysphotopsia (white flashes and now after yag in right eye large grey cloud like flash) go away on its own? Why is there not a lot of info on positive dysphotopsia on line?
@DrEyeGuy4 ай бұрын
Awesome using "dysphotopsia"... not a word a lot of people use, but the perfect word to describe the symptoms. Hard to say if they will go away on it's own depending on what exactly is causing the issue. Has your doctor said anything about it?

@@DrEyeGuy thank you for your reply! My Doctor really says nothing about the white fluttery flashes that I have had in both eyes since cataract surgery he brushed my questions about then off. Right eye went blurry 4 days after surgery and he had me come back 2 months later for the YAG. Right eye is still blurry and now I have this bigger flash, swipe like a grey cloud effect in right eye! So sorry I had yag done! I cancelled the tag that my Doctor wanted to do in left eye! He says everything looks fine and that I am seeing 20/25 in right eye. But it’s still blurry! He is sending me to a retinal specialist. I have a Alcon monofocal lens. I am sorry that I had yag procedure because now right eye is worse! I just want these flashes to stop! Thank you for your time!!!
