Those mean questions and comments are people that dont ride enough. Long time experienced rides do not care about your kit or gear because they have either been in that phase or learned from real experience that fancy bikes/kits aren't worth it. Ask any old cyclist with 20years of riding.

upgraded my china bike to a Trek Emonda sl6 105di2. rode for few months solo riding.. joined a few friends and notice how they dropped me even with older bikes. Thinking oh its my alloy wheelset slowing me down, upgraded to 45s carbon wheels. ok improved a bit but still dropped by them. (of coz they waited for me). after riding together for 2 months, they still dropped me but i can now follow them better. Its all about the legs... True story

What I’ve learnt after going for many fits. A bike fit should not be used as an end game for your performance. Rather, it should be used as a starting point. I’ll give you an example. Your body have two modes. Under stress, and without stress. When you go for fitting session, sit on the trainer and chill, you are not under any stress. Hence, you tend to be more conscious of your positioning, pedal stroke, how your foot are pointing etc. as a result, the fitter will fit you according to your body at that given moment. However, when your body is under stress, like in a fast group ride or when you are cycling above your threshold, your body behaves totally different. Because the human body is such that when it is experiencing stress, it would subconsciously adjust/compensate to reduce the stress in order to prevent damage. This is the body’s defence mechanism. Your body will find the most efficient way to help you overcome the stress that you are doing. Examples such as you would subconsciously point your feet downward when pedaling hard, slide forward, straighten your elbow, and start engaging different muscles or techniques. These are ways your body try to make you more efficient to reduce stress at that given moment and to prevent injury. Hence, a good bike fit should be able to maximise and improve your body DURING STRESS to make the most out of it. When your body is not under stress, ie base rides, cafe rides, zone 2 etc, it can naturally adapt to whatever position you are in. But in a fast group ride or race, you know you are most efficient. I’ve seen to many people who go for bike fit, tell me they feel so comfortable during cafe rides but in hard sessions they have all sorts of issues. That’s because the fit is not optimised for their body under load.

This! A good bike fitter will take consideration of the rider's riding preference as well. Because by default it will always prioritize comfort and the general/average condition disregarding strength and flexibility. Sadly most riders learn it the hard way through experience by having a sacrificial first bike including myself to establish a preference.

Good choice on the Domane! I had one, sold it and regret it. It looks great without a drop seat stay like many other bike. It's one good bike (not the best endurance bike unfortunately) for long ride.

This is the interview that I felt like I kena preach to join WCR 😂😂 a nice interview except I can’t get my head around someone who keeps saying not to spend on the bike and it’s the legs and all but goes and spend on wheels that costs as much as the bike. It’s contradictory. Honestly, you buy what you like, you ride how you like…I feel that it is kinda of sour to say one shouldn’t buy a Dogma F, S-Works, etc if you can’t ride a certain style…😅

Depends on the rider's goal or riding style. Heavy bike is sluggish, takes longer to go up to speed, and won't climb well, but good on flats and down hills.

ppl always say its the rider not the bike but at any level the gains are substantial between a real entry level bike for around 1-2k vs a super bike that cost 15k.

Those comments.. you get a lightweight bike you get people saying your riding doesn’t deserve such a spec bike, it’s heavy people say why you pay that much. Questions are one thing, phrasing on some of these are just plain condescending and should be responded with a quick “f**k off.”
